We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.\nCONSTRUCTION MANAGER, STRUCTURAL\nMost construction managers inherit a schedule someone else built and a set of contractors someone else hired. This one does not.\nSpaceX builds its own launch sites, factories, test stands, and AI superclusters - and it plans to keep building. The rockets, the chips, and the missions only matter if the ground under them is real. Construction is how that ground gets built, to a standard the company can actually use. The work does not dry up between jobs. There is a next site, and one after that.\nYou are the senior construction lead for the structural scope. You own the site relationships, the vendors, and the outcome. You report to central construction leadership, and that line can shift as the project evolves. You are on the job, walking the work, and clearing what is in the way.\nScope includes, but not limited to structural steel, ironwork, metal deck, framing, elevated slabs, flooring systems, roofing, carpentry, and general construction of the building itself: the metal skeleton, the floors, the roof, and the data halls. Crane and rigging work is in scope when it is raising the structure. Welding is in scope when it is steel structure.\nRight now the job is the data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Later work can move to other U.S. construction sites.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nAct as the senior construction representative for the Memphis data center structural scope, managing relationships with contractors, partners, and internal stakeholders\nOversee structural execution from pre-construction and site development through commissioning\nCoordinate multiple vendors so field and technical teams stay aligned on the steel, deck, slabs, roof, and data halls\nIdentify and mitigate risks to quality, safety, structural integrity, and operational readiness\nDrive progress on the structural scope and resolve roadblocks so the schedule holds\nAlign the structural schedule with SpaceXSI's infrastructure goals through cross-functional collaboration\nPartner with teams on commissioning and close issues as they come up\nDeliver regular updates with clear KPIs and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders\nHold the work to the technical and quality standards in the base design\nPerform quantity take-offs and field verifications to track progress and support reporting\nManage change orders, cut unnecessary changes, and control cost\nLead site safety for steel erection, crane and rigging work, working at heights, and structural welding\nSupport cross-functional partners as the project requires\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\n5+ years leading construction teams, including supervision of superintendents and foreman\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nExperience managing large-scale data center or mission-critical construction projects\nDeep expertise in construction management, commissioning, and site operations\nProven ability to lead on-site with authority and build trust with vendors, partners, and technical teams\nExperience managing large programs with multiple vendors and dynamic priorities\nStrong communication skills across disciplines, from field updates to technical escalations\nThrives in solving complex, real-time problems with adaptability and composure\nPrevious experience in data center construction or highly technical facilities\nFamiliarity with local Memphis building codes and regulations\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex construction challenges\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nPosition is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing\nPosition is subject to pre-employment and annual post-employment background checks\nComfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to noise\nAvailable to work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required\nAbility to lift at least 25 lbs\nMust be willing to travel as needed\nThis is a full-time, onsite role based in Memphis, Tennessee, with relocation required depending on additional construction locations within the US\nSpaceXSI is an equal opportunity employer.
