Operations Analyst (Power Generation) - Memphis

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a member of the power generation operations team, you will apply your knowledge, experience, and creativity to turn plant data into decisions. This role supports the site director with insights that improve how the power plant runs, including generation performance, fuel use, downstream demand, maintenance planning, and environmental compliance. If you like strategic planning, juggling many different priorities, improving processes, and spending your time in a dynamic work environment, then this team may be for you. This role will report directly to the site director and serve as a resource across plant operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Create and integrate AI tools to support analytics and execution planning. Create AI agents that can aid in oversight and quickly flag the onset of an issue or outage 

• Develop visual standards for work boards, JIRA queuing, Power BI dashboards, and plant operations workflow 

• Define and develop plant-level metrics and dashboards that quantify operational health and influence change, including gas vs MW, hall demand vs generation, maintenance forecast, and air permit hours 

• Support the site director with data insights for plant operations, outage planning, and continuous improvement 

• Conduct in-depth analyses through SQL queries and other data analysis methods to dive into problems and identify trends for decision making, following the rules of clear visual indicators and linear flow 

• Create reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurements and improvements 

• Integrate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and environmental teams to understand current workflows and identify systematic gaps 

• Support department continuous improvement projects such as new process rollouts and standardization 

• Develop automation that mitigates operational risk or creates efficiencies within the power plant 

• Conduct operations audits that streamline plant operations, maintenance, and reliability work 

• Maintenance program enhancement - increase attention on poor-health equipment and descope unnecessary work 

• Implement operations or maintenance tools (software or hardware) to reduce wasted effort by engineers, operators, and technicians 

• Analyze site services and plant support contracts such as utilities, waste, and related services, and roadmap improvements to ensure smart spending 

• Build communication tools and reports targeted at the site director and plant leadership to improve decision-making and customer service to downstream loads 

• Standardize material, spare parts, and procurement processes to reduce outage and project lead times 

• Drive alignment with power generation and operations teams at other SpaceX sites to reduce duplicated work 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain, management information systems, computer science, or economics 

• 2+ years of experience in an operations, data analytics, consulting, production coordination, scheduling, or planning role 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  

• 4+ years of professional experience 

• Process focused experience including project management, capacity modeling, process mapping, and layouts 

• Experience with operations, maintenance, and capacity planning (including CMMS, MRP, or ERP systems) 

• Experience in using Excel, VBA, SQL, or Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems 

• Experience with creating and managing dashboards using data visualization tools using Power BI 

• Familiarity with power plant or industrial operations metrics such as heat rate / gas vs MW, generation vs demand, maintenance forecasting, and environmental or air-permit tracking 

• Experience with lean, six sigma, and related operations principles 

• Ability to work well across teams and skill sets to find the simplest and best solution 

• Experience as a contributor to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
