And that is something to be excited about!\nYour role and responsibilities:\nXanadu is seeking a Cryostat Technician to support our next-generation cryostats and ongoing low-temperature device development. In this role, you will ensure our cryogenic platforms are robust, scalable, and mission-ready. You will collaborate closely with the low-temperature devices, hardware operations, and packaging teams to support a high volume of device analysis while providing operational support for our existing platforms.\nWith your technical expertise and hands-on experience with cryostats and related low-temperature technologies, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations and performance testing of our detector systems necessary for our quantum architecture. This role requires a practical approach to low-temperature engineering and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.You will assist in the assembly, testing, maintenance, and routine operation of large-scale cryostat systems. Responsibilities include:Support the assembly, setup, and testing of new cryostats for photon detector systems\nOperate and assist in testing cryogenic systems (e.g., He-4 evaporator-based), performing routine maintenance, performance logging, and troubleshooting\nWork with cryogenic liquid and gas systems to achieve optimized cooling requirements\nAssist in the maintenance and operation of large-scale cryogenic facilities to ensure safe and efficient gas/liquid recovery\nCollaborate closely with scientific and engineering teams to support ongoing detector characterization and testing\nRequired Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Technical/Engineering Technology diploma, or a closely related field with 2-3 years of hands-on cryogenics experience.\nPractical experience assembling, testing, or assisting with cryostat operations\nCAD and experience for mechanical part design or 3D printing (e.g. Solidworks)\nHands-on experience operating cryostats, including cooldowns, troubleshooting, and maintenance\nKnowledge and experience with high vacuum systems for cryogenic use\nLiquid cryogen handling and distribution experience\nSelf-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with people of all disciplines on complex projects in a fast-paced environment\nDetail-oriented with positive attitude towards work\nExcellent interpersonal communication skills \nPreferred Knowledge and Experience:\n3+ years of hands-on experience in a cryogenic laboratory or industrial environment\nHands-on experience with silicon chip handling and mounting\nExperience with fiber handling and routing\nExperience writing Python code\nThis is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is 90,000 - 120,000 CAD.
