Aposition at Xcel Energy could be just what you’re looking for.\nAccounting/Tax/Finance Intern\nPosition Summary\nXcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our CFO Organization, specifically, within our Accounting, Finance or Tax departments. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in one of our accounting, finance or tax groups that supports various business units throughout the company. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals. The program will allow you to apply what you’ve learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands on training and provide opportunities to network and learn with other interns across the CFO organization.\nTypical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:\nParticipate in the monthly financial process; journal entry preparation, close, budgeting/forecasting, reconciliations, etc.\nAssist with reporting (financial, regulatory, tax, FERC, SEC and/or operational)\nReview financial data to identify trends, variances, discrepancies, and business drivers\nCollaborate with teams and business partners to gather information and support data requests\nAssist audit, compliance, tax filings, transaction support and due diligence activities\nAssist and/or suggest improvements to processes, documentation through automation or knowledge sharing\nExposure to various financial systems/tools\nParticipate in/support special projects as assigned\nThis position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.\nMinimum Requirements:\nCurrent student, Junior status (as of Fall 2027) or higher\nEnrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science or other STEM related majors\nAble to work full-time (up to 40 hours a week) during the summer and commuting to the designated location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.\nPreferred Qualifications\n3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale or higher)\nProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint\nStrong analytical & organizational skills, attention to detail\nCuriosity and willingness to learn complex business concepts\nInterest in the energy industry\nAs a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states.
