This position is responsible for fostering positive relationships with youth, supporting their personal and social development, ensuring safe transportation, and promoting engagement in program activities. The Youth Mentor Driver serves as a positive role model and helps create a safe, supportive, and structured environment for participants.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nBuild positive and supportive relationships with youth through mentorship and engagement.\nProvide guidance, encouragement, and support to participants while promoting positive decision-making.\nSafely transport youth to and from program activities, events, schools, community resources, and approved destinations.\nConduct participant pick-ups and drop-offs in accordance with agency policies and procedures.\nSupervise youth during transportation and program activities to ensure safety and compliance with program expectations.\nEngage youth in meaningful conversations and activities that support personal growth, character development, and life skills.\nAssist with implementing recreational, educational, and community-based activities.\nSupport outreach and engagement efforts targeting at-risk youth.\nMaintain accurate transportation logs, attendance records, and required documentation.\nCommunicate participant concerns, incidents, and successes to supervisors and program staff.\nWork collaboratively with IPS staff, families, schools, and community partners to support positive youth outcomes.\nRespond appropriately to emergency situations and follow agency safety protocols.\nAttend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as required.\nRequirements\nQualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nAssociate's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Education, or a related field preferred.\nExperience working with at-risk youth required.\nExperience in youth development, mentoring, recreation, outreach, or community-based programming preferred.\nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.\nMust be able to drive and safely transport youth using agency vehicles.\nAbility to pass all required background checks, clearances, and screenings.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to establish rapport and effectively engage youth from diverse backgrounds.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to maintain professional boundaries while serving as a positive role model.\nKnowledge of youth development principles and trauma-informed practices preferred.\nStrong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and de-escalation skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\nCommitment to supporting positive youth development and community engagement.\nSchedule\nSchedule: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, or until the last youth participant is safely dropped off.\nHours may vary based on program activities, participant needs, and transportation schedules.\nOccasional evening, weekend, or special event hours may be required.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position requires frequent driving, community outreach, participant transportation, and engagement in various program settings.
