We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth development, committed to community service, and able to build positive relationships with young people.\nThe Youth Mentor/Driver is responsible for safely transporting youth participants to and from program activities while also serving as a mentor and positive role model. When not driving, the Youth Mentor/Driver will actively support program operations, engage youth in educational and recreational activities, assist with homework support, and help create a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment.\nThe ideal candidate will have experience mentoring, coaching, supporting, or working with youth in some capacity and must maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive presence at all times.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nAs a vital member of Xiente's team, you will:\nInteract professionally with youth ages 10-17.\nProvide homework assistance and academic support.\nImplement established Xiente youth development programs.\nCreate an engaging, positive, and enjoyable atmosphere for youth participants.\nSupervise and support groups of youth during program activities.\nEstablish and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.\nEncourage participation and engagement in all program activities.\nBuild positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners.\nServe as a mentor and positive role model.\nSafely operate a 14-passenger van for participant transportation.\nConduct youth pick-ups and drop-offs according to program schedules.\nNavigate Philadelphia routes, particularly within the 19133, 19122, 19134, 19140, 19124, and 19120 zip codes.\nAssist with site-based programming and classroom support when not driving.\nMaintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles and report maintenance concerns promptly.\nComplete incident reports when necessary.\nObserve and report unsafe acts, behaviors, or conditions.\nFollow oral and written instructions accurately.\nUtilize computers and other software required for program documentation and communication.\nAssist at the Teen Center, focusing on youth engagement, safety, supervision, and mentorship.\nParticipate in community events, trainings, staff meetings, and quarterly strategic meetings as required.\nRequirements\na { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }\nQualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nAssociate Degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.\nExperience mentoring, coaching, supporting, supervising, or working with youth in any capacity, including schools, community programs, recreation programs, sports, camps, after-school programs, faith-based organizations, or volunteer experiences.\nAbility to build positive relationships with youth and serve as a positive role model.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, racial, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.\nDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.\nStrong organizational and documentation skills.\nMust possess a valid driver's license and have the physical license available upon hire.\nGood driving record required.\nMinimum of two years of driving experience.\nAbility to safely operate a 12-14 passenger van.\nKnowledge of SEPTA routes preferred.\nFamiliarity with the Norris Square community and local service providers is a plus.\nSchedule\nPart-Time | Rotating Schedule\nAvailable shifts include:\n6:00 PM - 11:00 PM\n9:00 PM - 2:00 AM\nThe program operates Monday through Sunday, and candidates must be available to work one or both shifts as needed.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.\nAbility to safely operate a passenger vehicle for extended periods.\nAbility to respond appropriately to emergency situations involving youth participants.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nXiente is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
