Our Assistant Project Managers are integral to driving success across our projects and shaping the future of construction.\nPosition Summary\nThe Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a critical role in supporting the successful planning and execution of construction projects. In partnership with the Project Manager and Superintendent, the APM oversees documentation, procurement, budgeting, schedule adherence, and quality control. This role is ideal for a dynamic builder with strong attention to detail, leadership capabilities, and a passion for continuous learning.\nKey Responsibilities\nReview contracts, assess risk, and communicate key areas of exposure to the project team.\nLead the bid process by developing detailed instructions to bidders, ensuring scope coverage, accuracy, and appropriate risk mitigation.\nSupport subcontractor buyout and selection processes, including subcontract execution and issue resolution.\nAssemble and manage the project control estimate.\nManage all aspects of construction management, including:Preconstruction\nScheduling\nProcurement\nSubmittals\nRFIs\nChange orders\nBudgeting\nForecasting\nBilling\nProject closeout\n\nEnsure project permits, inspections, and tests are accurately identified and scheduled.\nOwn the project procurement plan and procurement log, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.\nFoster effective relationships with clients and design teams through consistent communication and leadership during Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings and site walks.\nMaintain document control accuracy and timeliness.\nLeverage internal resources including VDC, Lean practices, SPW, XL Shop, and other tools to drive project and team effectiveness.\nTrain and mentor Project Engineers, Project Administrators, and Project Accountants.\nPromote and model XLI's core values, safety culture, and operational excellence.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.\n3 to 5 years of construction experience, preferably as a Senior Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager.\nExperience working on healthcare, education, life sciences, civic, or commercial office projects.\nDemonstrated experience managing or assisting with small projects.\nProficiency with:Microsoft Office\nProcore\nPrimavera P6\nTimberline\nVista\n\nSolid understanding of:MEP trades\nScheduling\nPermit processes\n\nOSHA 10 Certification.\nAbility to build trust across project stakeholders and internal teams.\nExcellent organizational and time management skills.\nCore Competencies\nXLI Stewardship\nManagerial Courage\nBridge Builder\nPeople Developer\nContinuous Learner\nBusiness Acumen\nStrategic Edge\nCompensation\nIn accordance with California's Pay Transparency Laws (SB 1162), XLI is committed to fair and equitable compensation.\nBase Salary Range: $120,000 to $135,000 annually\nEligible for annual performance bonus program\nEligible for vehicle reimbursement\nCompensation will be determined based on experience, education, qualifications, and internal equity.\nWhy Join XLI?\nAt XLI, we offer more than a job.
