We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Payroll Specialistto join our Finance team in a permanent, full-time role. This is a fully remote position open to candidates across Canada.\nReporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist plays an important role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time. Working closely with our Human Resources (HR), Finance teams, and employees across the organization, you’ll help ensure payroll processes run smoothly, employee records remain accurate, and payroll activities comply with company policies and applicable federal and provincial legislation.\nIn this role, you’ll support day-to-day payroll processing, maintain confidential employee payroll records, respond to payroll-related questions, and assist with reconciliations, reporting, and year-end activities. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and supporting people behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you!\nWhat You Will Do:\nProcess bi-weekly and other scheduled payrolls accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal and provincial legislation.\nReview and process employee hours, overtime, vacation, sick leave, statutory holiday pay, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.\nProcess employee changes, including new hires, terminations, transfers, salary adjustments, and other updates, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.\nMaintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records and information within payroll and BambooHR.\nRespond to employee payroll inquiries, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in collaboration with employees, HR, and management.\nReconcile payroll registers, general ledger accounts, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and payroll liabilities; assist with journal entries, accruals, and month-end and year-end reporting.\nAssist with payroll remittances, statutory filings, T4s, T4As, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other required payroll documentation.\nSupport payroll audits and government inquiries by maintaining accurate records and providing required documentation and reports.\nAssist with payroll system maintenance, testing, enhancements, data validation, and process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency.\nCollaborate with the Payroll Manager, HR, and Finance teams to support payroll reporting, resolve data issues, streamline processes, and meet departmental deadlines.\nWhat You Will Bring:\nA post-secondary education is preferred, particularly in related fields such as Finance, Business, HR, or similar disciplines with experience in the private and/or public sector. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience will also be considered.\nAt least 5 years of experience in payroll or accounting.\nExperience working with payroll and HRIS systems, with the ability to navigate systems efficiently and maintain accurate employee data.\nPayroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or progress toward obtaining the designation, is considered an asset.\nA solid understanding of payroll deductions, statutory requirements, and applicable employment standards.\nExceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, reliable results.\nA high level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential employee and payroll information.\nStrong communication and customer service skills, with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to supporting employees and internal stakeholders.\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data, reports, and reconciliations.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple tasks, and adapt effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nWhy Work With Us:\nSalary Range: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 CAD per year.\nComprehensive benefits and RRSP matching from your first day of employment.\nGreat employee perks including discounted gym memberships, shopping discounts, and recognition awards.\nEmployee referral incentives.\nBusiness casual environment.\nOpportunity for career growth and development.\nSupportive and collaborative team environment.\nWe serve a diverse population across Canada and beyond.
