Our Cloud team builds and runs the platform those solutions sit on.\nAs a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll help make that platform reliable, secure, observable and easy for product teams to use. You’ll work across a large AWS estate (hundreds of accounts, multiple workloads, eight regions), building durable platform capabilities and well-supported ways of working. The goal is to let engineering teams deliver and run services safely without needing to become cloud infrastructure specialists.\nYou’ll report to the Head of Cloud Engineering, you'll be responsible for :\nBuild and evolve the platform\nDesign, build and run shared AWS and Kubernetes capabilities that support Exerp workloads globally\nCreate reusable, opinionated platform patterns for account foundations, networking, identity, compute, storage, deployment and observability\nUse Terraform, Helm, Argo CD and related automation to make infrastructure and application delivery repeatable, reviewable and recoverable\nImprove our internal developer platform and service catalogue (including Port) so teams can find, provision and run what they need through clear self-service paths\nAssess new technologies pragmatically, weighing customer value, operational risk, security, cost and long-term maintainability\nImprove reliability and operational maturity\nDefine and improve SLOs, operational readiness, resilience, disaster recovery and capacity planning for platform services\nBuild meaningful observability with Grafana Cloud, Elastic Cloud and AWS-native tooling, using well-designed logs, metrics, traces and alerts\nTake part in incident response and problem management, helping teams restore service quickly and turning lessons into lasting improvements\nReduce toil by automating repetitive manual work and designing out recurring failure modes\nSupport safe change across a global estate through sound upgrade, migration, maintenance and rollback practices\nEnable product and engineering teams\nWork with developers, solution architects, security and operations colleagues to understand their needs and deliver practical platform solutions\nCreate clear paved roads for deploying, configuring, monitoring and changing hosted environments, with flexibility where workloads need it\nImprove documentation, examples, templates and support processes so teams can solve common problems themselves\nCoach colleagues on design decisions, troubleshooting and operational practice, and share knowledge to lift capability across engineering\nProtect the business and its customers\nApply AWS Well-Architected principles and security best practice across identity, access, networking, data protection, resilience and operational control\nHelp maintain strong multi-account governance, including permission boundaries, SSO and OIDC integrations, policy controls and auditability\nContribute to cost management through better visibility, tagging, resource efficiency and cost-aware platform decisions\nTreat customer impact, data privacy and security as first-class considerations in design and day-to-day operations\n What would make me a good candidate?\nWe are looking for curious and empathetic people. This role has a direct opportunity to shape how cloud engineering is practised across a global product organisation.\nRequired qualifications for this role:\nSignificant experience designing, building and running production platforms or distributed systems on AWS\nStrong hands-on Kubernetes experience, ideally Amazon EKS, covering cluster lifecycle, scheduling, networking, storage, security and workload operations\nStrong Infrastructure as Code experience, especially designing maintainable Terraform projects, modules and shared patterns at scale\nExperience with GitOps and continuous delivery, ideally with Argo CD and Helm\nNice to have\nFamiliarity with Grafana Cloud, Elastic Cloud or similar platforms\nFamiliarity with Java-based production systems (Exerp Core is mainly written in Java, but deep Java development experience isn’t needed)\nHow you work\nYou own outcomes, follow problems through and speak up early when priorities, risks or dependencies change\nYou enjoy troubleshooting complex systems and keep making progress when the answer isn’t obvious\nYou favour simple, automated, well-documented solutions over heroics and repeated manual fixes\nYou’re collaborative and service-minded, but can set sensible boundaries and help teams become self-sufficient\nYou share knowledge through design discussions, reviews, documentation, mentoring and constructive challenge\nYou work well independently in a global organisation and communicate confidently in written and spoken English\nA solid understanding of AWS multi-account environments, IAM, identity federation, OIDC, networking, DNS, VPNs, firewalls and common AWS security controls\nExperience designing observability that helps engineers understand system health and troubleshoot customer-impacting issues\nScripting and automation skills in shell and/or Python\nA track record of leading complex technical initiatives from discovery through to implementation, adoption and operational ownership\nA clear understanding of reliability, security, data privacy, change management and the trade-offs of running globally distributed systems\nAt Xplor, we believe that the best innovation and ideas happen at the intersections of our differences - people of diverse cultures, generations, disciplines, and lived experiences.
