We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to own the software our customers see and use - the interface on board the boat, the mobile app, and the cloud environment behind them.\nThe emphasis is frontend: the onboard interface is a React application running on the boat’s Linux-based IoT gateway, and it is what an owner touches every time they step on board. The cloud environment, the telemetry platform, the customer API, and remote access to the fleet come with it. The whole stack is yours - you decide how it looks, how it is built, and how it runs.\nThe role is hybrid, with regular days on-site in Nyköping - the onboard interface has to be tried on a real gateway in a real boat, not only in a browser.\nRole Purpose\nOwn the customer-facing software stack - the onboard interface, the mobile app, the cloud environment, and the telemetry platform and API behind them - and keep it running as one coherent product.\nCore Mission\nMake the digital side of an X Shore boat feel finished, and make the data the fleet produces something owners, customers, and colleagues can rely on.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain the onboard user interface - a React application running on the boat’s Linux-based IoT gateway\n\nDesign, build, and release the X Shore mobile app for iOS and Android\n\nKeep the experience consistent across boat and app, working with our external design partner on what goes out and what is faster done in-house\n\nOwn our cloud environment: the hosted telemetry platform, the services we run ourselves, deployments, monitoring, access control, and cost\n\nRun and develop ThingsBoard as our telemetry platform - device profiles, ingestion, dashboards, retention, and upgrades\n\nOwn the customer-facing API: maintain and develop it, with authentication, versioning, documentation, and support for the customers integrating with it\n\nBuild and maintain the backend services the app, the boat interface, and the API depend on\n\nManage remote access to boats in the field\n\nTake responsibility for the operation of the customer-facing services - and make sure we notice problems before customers do\n\nWork with the embedded team on the boat-to-cloud boundary: what data leaves the boat, in what form, and how often\n\nTechnical Depth - What We Need\nThe X Shore customer experience runs on three surfaces: a React application on a Linux-based IoT gateway on board, a mobile app, and a cloud environment where a hosted ThingsBoard platform collects telemetry from the fleet. Alongside it sits the remote access we use to reach boats in the field. We are open on years of experience - we hire on demonstrated skill - and we expect frontend depth first, with enough backend, cloud, and operational capability to keep the rest running properly.\nBuild production React interfaces - including for a fixed onboard screen used in sunlight, with wet hands, while driving a boat\n\nBuild and release a mobile app to the App Store and Google Play - we lean towards React so the app and the onboard interface share one ecosystem, but the choice is open if you can argue for something better\n\nOperate our cloud services: configuration of the hosted platforms we rely on, the services we run ourselves, deployment pipelines, certificates, secrets, monitoring, and alerting\n\nRun an IoT telemetry platform - ThingsBoard in our case: telemetry ingestion, dashboards, and rule chains\n\nMaintain and develop the REST API that external customers depend on: authentication, versioning, rate limiting, and documentation people can work from without asking us\n\nWrite backend services and handle time-series data at fleet scale - storage, retention, and queries that stay fast as the fleet grows\n\nDebug across the whole path: from a signal on the boat, through the gateway, to a value in a dashboard or an app screen\n\nUse AI tools as a normal part of development - writing, reviewing, and analysing code - while staying accountable for what goes into production\n\nJudge where effort belongs: what has to be robust, what can stay simple, and what should not be built at all\n\nQualifications\nRequired\nStrong frontend skills with production experience in React\n\nSolid JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals\n\nAble to work across the full stack - building and running backend services and APIs, not only consuming them\n\nPractical cloud experience: you have deployed, operated, and monitored something real in production\n\nExperience building and releasing a mobile app for iOS and Android\n\nComfortable owning the operational side - when a service is down, you are the one who finds out why\n\nComfortable working with AI tools in daily development, and able to review and verify what they produce\n\nConfident with Git in a team setting\n\nFluent in English; Swedish is an advantage\n\nAble to be on-site in Nyköping on a regular basis, including testing on boats\n\nNice to Have\nThingsBoard experience - good to have, not a requirement\n\nIoT or connected products: MQTT, device fleets, and time-series data\n\nInfrastructure as code, containers, and CI/CD pipelines\n\nUX and interface design ability - design work is done with an external agency today, and the stronger your own design judgement, the more of it we keep in-house\n\nExperience with interfaces for vehicles, boats, or other equipment used in motion and in daylight\n\nCyber security for connected products and cloud services: authentication, secrets handling, secure updates, and data protection\n\nRunning applications on constrained or embedded Linux hardware\n\nExperience from a company in growth, transformation, or restart phase\n\nNon-Negotiables\nVerifies the onboard interface on real hardware in a boat before calling it done\n\nOwns the operational side of what they build, not only the code\n\nKeeps the stack simple enough that one person can run it and someone else could take it over\n\nDocuments the API, the cloud setup, and the platform configuration as part of the work\n\nSays early when something is not finished or not verified, regardless of schedule pressure\n\nTreats the owner’s experience as the product - not the endpoint that returns the data\n\nComfortable working in an environment where processes are still being built\n\nPersonal Qualities\nTo succeed in this role we believe you:\nCare about how the product feels to use, not only whether it works\n\nAre comfortable being the person for a domain - and know when to ask for help or bring in support\n\nAre pragmatic about scope: ship something good, then improve it\n\nCommunicate clearly with people who are not developers\n\nAre comfortable in ambiguity and can create structure where little exists\n\nHave strong drive and see problems through to resolution\n\nThrive in a small, fast-moving team where every person’s contribution is visible\n\nKey Interfaces\nHead of Software - direct reporting line; priorities, technical direction, and release decisions\n\nEmbedded software - the boat-to-cloud boundary, gateway platform, and onboard data\n\nService and aftermarket - fleet data, diagnostics access, and support tooling\n\nSales and customer experience - owner-facing features, app feedback, and customer requests\n\nCustomers and partners integrating with our API - requirements, documentation, and support\n\nExternal design agency - briefs, reviews, and handover; how much goes out depends on how much you take on yourself\n\nWhat We Offer\nAt X Shore you get the chance to be part of an exciting journey with significant responsibility and real impact.
