Technical Lead

We are seeking a high-performing Tech Lead (5-8 Years) to drive technical architecture, mentor a team of engineers, and solve complex product and performance challenges as we scale globally. As a Tech Lead at XTEN-AV, you will sit at the intersection of hands-on software development, architecture design, and engineering leadership. You will lead a dedicated team of engineers, driving best practices across our core Python/Django backend and frontend components. This role demands sharp problem-solving skills to overcome complex technical bottlenecks, combined with strong communication skills to align cross-functional teams and mentor developers.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Technical Leadership and Architecture:

• Lead the design, execution, and optimisation of scalable, secure cloud application architectures using Python and Django.
• Build responsive, performant, and intuitive user interfaces using HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript (ES6+), and front-end frameworks (e. g., Bootstrap, Redux/JS libraries).
• Architect robust, clean RESTful APIs to power interactive client-side tools and third-party integrations.
• Solve high-complexity technical problems, such as backend query optimisation, data processing pipelines, and complex workflow engines.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews, enforce coding standards, and maintain strict quality & test coverage benchmarks.

Team Management and Communication:

• Lead, mentor, and foster growth for a pod of 4-8 full-stack software engineers and QA developers.
• Manage sprint planning, task estimation, code delivery, and technical roadmaps in close collaboration with Product Managers and leadership.
• Act as a clear technical communicator, translating complex architectural concepts into clear goals for developers, non-technical stakeholders, and business leaders.
• Oversee continuous delivery pipelines (CI/CD) and ensure rapid, reliable cloud deployments.

Requirements:

• Experience: 5-8 years of professional experience in full-stack software development, with at least 1-2 years in a Tech Lead or Senior Lead role managing developers.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate ideas, lead technical discussions, document architectures, and align with global teams.
• Backend Mastery: Deep proficiency in Python and Django / Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Frontend Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience with core web technologies: HTML5 CSS3 and JavaScript with a solid understanding of DOM manipulation, UI performance, and responsive layouts.
• Complex Problem Solving: Demonstrated track record of diagnosing and solving hard engineering problems (e. g., query optimisation, memory leaks, concurrency, scaling SaaS platforms).
• Databases and Cloud: Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), caching solutions (Redis), Elasticsearch and AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Processes: Proven experience in Agile/Scrum environments, CI/CD practices, and version control (Git).

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience or keen interest in integrating AI APIs, LLMs, or automation workflows into web applications.
• Experience working in a fast-paced SaaS product startup environment.
