This position combines operational execution, carrier management, and analytical decision-making to deliver reliable intermodal solutions.\nResponsibilities: Tasks: Targets:\nIntermodal Carrier & Rail Relations\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with drayage carriers, rail carriers, terminals, and intermodal service providers.\nMonitor carrier performance, service levels, and operational compliance.\nCoordinate container movement planning from origin to destination.\nManage rail carrier interactions regarding bookings, equipment availability, terminal restrictions, and service disruptions.\nSource drayage capacity to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.\nEscalate service concerns and develop corrective action plans with underperforming providers.\nMonitor rail service metrics and communicate service issues to internal stakeholders.\nSupport network optimization initiatives through carrier and lane analysis.\nParticipate in regular performance reviews with key carrier partners.\nRail and drayage service performance maintained at or above 95%.\nTimely communication of all service disruptions and exceptions.\nCarrier compliance maintained at corporate standards.\nContinuous development of strategic carrier partnerships.\n2. Equipment & Capacity ManagementManage rail container and equipment pools.\nMonitor equipment positioning and availability across key markets.\nCoordinate equipment allocation to support customer requirements.\nIdentify equipment shortages and implement recovery plans.\nTrack container cycles and utilization performance.\nSupport forecasting for equipment requirements based on volume trends.\nCoordinate empty container returns and repositioning activities.\nMonitor terminal inventories and container dwell times.\n Equipment utilization optimized across network.\nNon-productive container dwell minimized.\nEquipment shortages proactively identified and mitigated.\n3. Intermodal Planning & Shipment Execution \nPlan and coordinate intermodal shipments from booking through final delivery.\nEnsure all rail bookings are completed accurately and within required timelines.\nCoordinate drayage appointments and terminal pickups.\nMonitor shipment milestones and ensure accurate system updates.\nIdentify and resolve transit exceptions before service failures occur.\nMaintain shipment visibility through proactive tracking and communication.\nCoordinate contingency plans for service interruptions, rail congestion, or terminal delays.\nEnsure all operational milestones are updated in the TMS.\nAll shipments accurately tracked and updated in real time.\nShipment exceptions addressed within established service standards.\nService failures minimized through proactive intervention.\n4. In-Transit Tracking & Customer Communication Monitor shipment movement across rail and drayage networks.\nPerform proactive tracing and milestone verification.\nProvide timely and accurate updates to customers and internal stakeholders.\nInvestigate delayed shipments and develop recovery plans.\nMaintain complete shipment documentation and audit trail.\nSupport customer KPI reporting and service reviews.\nShipment visibility maintained throughout all shipment stages.\nCustomer inquiries resolved within established response times.\nAccurate and complete shipment notes maintained.\n5. Demurrage, Detention & Accessorial Management \nMonitor containers approaching free-time limits.\nActively manage terminal dwell to reduce demurrage exposure.\nInvestigate and validate detention, storage, and accessorial charges.\nTrack recoverable costs and ensure proper customer billing.\nDevelop strategies to reduce recurring demurrage and detention expenses.\nGenerate regular reporting on accessorial trends and root causes.\nMinimize unnecessary demurrage and detention costs.\nEnsure accurate validation and billing of all recoverable charges.\nContinuous reduction in avoidable accessorial expenses.\n6. Billing & Financial Management \nAudit carrier invoices for accuracy.\nValidate rail freight charges, fuel surcharges, and accessorial costs.\nEnsure accurate customer invoicing.\nInvestigate and resolve billing discrepancies.\nSupport monthly financial reporting and cost analysis.\nIdentify opportunities for operational and cost improvements.\nHigh level of invoice accuracy.\nTimely completion of billing and cost validation.\nReduction of preventable billing errors.\n7. Rail Claims & Dispute Resolution Investigate rail service failures and operational discrepancies.\nPrepare and submit rail disputes and service claims.\nManage rail billing disputes and recovery opportunities.\nMaintain supporting documentation and claim files.\nTrack claim progress through resolution.\nCollaborate with rail carriers to improve recurring issue trends.\nAssist in loss, damage, shortage, and service recovery investigations.\nClaims and disputes submitted within required timelines.\nMaximum recovery of eligible costs.\nComplete documentation maintained for all disputes.\nSkills & Abilities:\nMinimum 2-4 years transportation, intermodal, rail, or logistics experience.\nStrong understanding of intermodal transportation operations.\nKnowledge of rail carrier networks, service schedules, and equipment flows.\nKnowledge of drayage operations and terminal processes.\nUnderstanding of demurrage, detention, and rail billing practices.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent customer service and communication abilities.\nAdvanced organizational and prioritization skills.\nStrong attention to detail and data accuracy.\nWorking knowledge of transportation management systems, Microsoft Excel, and reporting tools.\nUnderstanding of North American geography and freight networks.\nAbility to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced
