At Xylem, you will have the opportunity to solve water by participating in our paid Volunteer Program, Xylem Watermark!\nJob Summary:\nThe Receiving Inspection & Calibration Team Lead is responsible for leading the daily activities of the Receiving Inspection and Calibration functions to ensure compliance with quality management system requirements, regulatory standards, and company procedures. This position oversees incoming material inspection, calibration program management, and team performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence, product quality, and customer satisfaction.\nThe Team Lead provides technical guidance, prioritizes workload, ensures timely completion of inspections and calibrations, and serves as the primary escalation point for issues related to supplier quality, nonconforming materials, and measurement system integrity.\nThis is a working role and up to 75% of the time the lead will be expected to conduct inspection and support calibration activities as needed.\nKey Responsibilities\nLeadership & Team Management\nLead, coach, and develop Receiving Inspection and Calibration personnel.\nAssign daily work activities and establish priorities to meet production and business requirements.\nMonitor team performance through metrics, audits, and regular performance discussions.\nSupport hiring, onboarding, training, and competency development of team members.\nPromote a culture of quality, compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nReceiving Inspection\nOversee incoming inspection activities to verify materials, components, and assemblies meet established specifications and quality requirements.\nEnsure inspection plans, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria are appropriately applied.\nReview and disposition incoming inspection records and documentation.\nCoordinate containment activities for nonconforming materials.\nInitiate and support supplier corrective actions as needed.\nCollaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams to resolve quality concerns.\nMonitor inspection performance metrics including turnaround times, defect rates, and supplier quality trends.\nCalibration Management\nManage the site calibration program for measurement and test equipment.\nEnsure calibration activities are completed according to established schedules and regulatory requirements.\nMaintain calibration records, certificates, and traceability documentation.\nCoordinate external calibration service providers and internal calibration activities.\nInvestigate and assess the impact of out-of-tolerance equipment.\nEnsure measurement equipment remains compliant with applicable standards and quality system requirements.\nDrive improvements in measurement system effectiveness and reliability.\nQuality Systems & Compliance\nEnsure compliance with applicable quality standards (ISO 9001/13485).\nSupport internal, customer, and regulatory audits.\nMaintain procedures, work instructions, forms, and records related to receiving inspection and calibration activities.\nParticipate in CAPA, nonconformance, risk management, and continuous improvement processes.\nEnsure data integrity and proper documentation practices are maintained.\nContinuous Improvement\nAnalyze inspection and calibration performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.\nLead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to inspection and measurement issues.\nImplement lean manufacturing, process improvement, and error-proofing initiatives.\nSupport digital transformation and automation opportunities within quality processes.\nQualifications\nEducation\nAssociate's degree in Quality, Engineering, Technical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field required.\nExperience\n5+ years of quality assurance, receiving inspection, calibration, or manufacturing quality experience.\n2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.\nExperience working within regulated or ISO-certified environments.\nExperience managing calibration systems and measurement equipment.\nKnowledge & Skills\nStrong understanding of receiving inspection methods and sampling techniques.\nKnowledge of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and metrology fundamentals.\nFamiliarity with quality management systems and requirements such as ISO 9001\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nProficiency with quality tools, including root cause analysis, SPC, CAPA, and risk assessment methods.\nStrong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.\nAbility to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nExperience with ERP, calibration management, and quality management software systems preferred.\nThe salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
