Xylem is an American water technology company separated from ITT in 2011 that makes the pumps, treatment systems, meters and analytics used to move, treat and measure water. Its most strategically interesting business is measurement and control: smart water meters and network monitoring that let a utility find leaks, since a substantial share of treated water is lost in distribution before reaching anyone. Headquartered in Washington and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it acquired Evoqua in 2023 to add industrial water treatment, and its demand is driven by infrastructure renewal and water scarcity rather than by economic growth.

Xylem is a Fortune 500 global water solutions company dedicated to advancing sustainable impact and empowering the people who make water work every day. As a leading water technology company with 23,000 employeesoperatingin over 150 countries, Xylem is at the forefront of addressing the world's most critical water challenges. We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.

The ideal candidate will combine a strong STEM foundation in chemical, mechanical engineering, with a passion to support Xylems mission to solve water and a hands-on willingness to enable successful process development.

What You'll Do:

  • Evaluate process performance and risk profiles of third party technology providers, through desk based data analysis, lab experimentation and field validation.
  • Design and develop new processes and systems for process evaluation, including bench-scale, pilot-scale, and full-scale implementations.

  • Develop process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, control strategies, and scale-up protocols.
  • Lead pilot testing efforts at customer sites or internal facilities, including setup, operation, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Support scale implementation within the business by detailing methods to quantify technical and commercial benefits e.g, process efficiency.
  • Stay at the leading edge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in water treatment.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related applied science/engineering field.
  • 1-5+ years of experience in process development, preferably in water treatment, chemical processing, or adjacent technologies.
  • Strong first principles understanding of chemistry, fluid dynamics, mass transfer, and ability to apply them to real world problems is needed.
  • Experience with water treatment unit operations such as membranes, separation technologies, digestion or oxidation processes is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with pilot systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
