This is a high-impact role designed for someone with a strategic, customer-focused sales professional with experience in complex solution selling and a deep understanding of municipal infrastructure needs.\nThis position manages the full sales cycle, from new business development to post-sale relationship management. You'll act as the primary point of contact for city, county, and utility clients, ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth.\nKey Responsibilities\nSell complex odor control, disinfection, and wastewater solutions to municipal entities across the designated territory.\nDevelop and maintain relationships with key municipal stakeholders, understanding their regulatory and operational challenges.\nEngage clients through in-person visits, virtual meetings, and strategic presentations, using a consultative approach.\nCreate and deliver custom quotes, technical proposals, and product demonstrations.\nLead customer engagements such as lunch & learns, webinars, and trade shows to educate and expand influence.\nRespond to customer inquiries with urgency, offering tailored solutions based on industry knowledge and product expertise.\nMaintain and advance opportunities through all sales stages in CRM, ensuring accurate forecasting and data integrity.\nStay current on relevant regulations, technologies, and industry trends to remain a trusted advisor.\nBusiness Development:\nResearching and identifying potential clients in assigned territory\nCold calling and networking to generate leads and expand client base\nConducting market research and staying updated on industry trends and competition\nSales Management:\nSetting and achieving sales targets in assigned territory\nCollaborating with sales team to meet overall company goals\nProviding training and support to new and existing sales team members\nMonitoring and analyzing sales data to identify areas for improvement\nClient Relationship Management:\nBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with key clients\nUnderstanding and addressing clients' needs and concerns\nActing as a liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure client satisfaction\nIdentifying opportunities for upselling and cross selling products to existing clients.\nHigh Impact Behaviors:\nStrategic Vision and Foresight: Senior professionals should have the ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for the future, anticipate trends, and prepare the organization to adapt to changes. This requires strong communication skills, credibility, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.\nQualifications:\nA bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, business, or a related field with at least 5 years' experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.\nPrevious experience as a sales representative or business development manager in a related industry.\nProficiency in integrated business management and CRM software, such as MS Dynamics and SalesForce.\nAdvanced knowledge of solution selling, business development, and brand expansion.\nExceptional interpersonal and communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nIndustry & Technical Expertise\nKnowledge of wastewater treatment processes, especially related to odor generation and mitigation technologies.\nExperience with odor control technologies, such as:Chemical dosing (e.g., hydrogen peroxide, nitrate-based products, hydroxides and iron-based products)\nVapor-phase or liquid-phase odor scrubbers\nBiological odor treatment systems\n\nUnderstanding of EPA, local, and state environmental regulations affecting municipal utilities.\nSales & Solution Selling\nProven track record in technical or consultative sales within the environmental, water/wastewater, or industrial sectors.\nExperience navigating public sector sales cycles, including RFPs, procurement processes, and municipal contracting.\nAbility to conduct site assessments and collaborate with engineers, operators, and public works decision-makers.\nPublic Utility Relationships\nEstablished relationships or networks within municipal utilities, public works departments, or water/wastewater authorities.\nAbility to build credibility and trust with government stakeholders, utility managers, and engineering consultants.\nTools & Systems\nProficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, MS Dynamics) for pipeline management and forecasting.\nFamiliarity with SCADA, GIS systems, or asset management platforms used in utility operations is a plus.\nCertifications & Education\nDegree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred.\nRelevant industry certifications (e.g., WEF, AWWA, or odor control-specific training) are advantageous.\nSoft Skills & Strategic Thinking\nStrong communication and presentation skills to convey technical solutions to non-technical audiences.\nAbility to travel regionally and conduct on-site demos, trials, or troubleshooting.\nStrategic mindset with the ability to identify long-term opportunities and influence capital planning or infrastructure upgrades.\n Salary\nThe estimated salary range for this position is $111,000 to $130,000 plus sales incentives. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
