This position serves as a technical resource within the manufacturing team, providing guidance and mentoring to welders, assisting with process improvements, and supporting the production of high-quality products that meet Xylem's customer and engineering requirements.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nPerform complex welding operations using MIG, TIG, Flux-Cored, and Stick welding processes as required.\nRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, specifications, and work instructions.\nSet up, adjust, and operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.\nWeld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials to required specifications and quality standards.\nConduct fit-up, layout, tack welding, fabrication, and assembly activities.\nInspect completed welds for dimensional accuracy, appearance, and compliance with quality requirements.\nTroubleshoot welding defects and recommend corrective actions.\nAssist supervisors and manufacturing engineers in improving welding processes, productivity, and quality performance.\nTrain, mentor, and support less-experienced welders and new employees.\nParticipate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMaintain accurate production and quality documentation.\nSupport lean manufacturing, 5S, and operational excellence activities.\nEnsure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies.\nPerform material handling and equipment operation as required.\nCollaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.\nSafety Responsibilities\nFollow all OSHA, company, and facility safety requirements.\nProperly utilize required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory protection where required.\nIdentify and report unsafe conditions and near misses.\nPromote a proactive safety culture throughout the facility.\nParticipate in safety meetings, audits, and corrective action activities.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nMinimum 3-5 years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment.\nDemonstrated proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.\nStrong knowledge of welding codes, specifications, and quality requirements.\nExperience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.\nPreferred\nAWS welding certification or equivalent qualification.\nTechnical school, vocational training, or associate degree in Welding Technology.\nExperience with stainless steel fabrication and pressure-containing products.\nPrior leadership, mentoring, or lead welder experience.\nExperience working in a lean manufacturing environment.\nForklift and overhead crane experience.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAdvanced welding and fabrication skills.\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.\nAbility to train and develop others.\nExcellent attention to detail and quality focus.\nUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.\nCommitment to Xylem's values of safety, quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction.\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.\nAbility to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work in varying manufacturing conditions, including heat, noise, and welding fumes.\nVisual acuity sufficient to inspect weld quality and read technical documents.\nSuccess Measures\nSafety performance and compliance.\nFirst-pass yield and weld quality metrics.\nProductivity and schedule attainment.\nReduction of scrap and rework.\nTraining and development of team members.\nParticipation in continuous improvement initiatives.\nConsistent adherence to Xylem quality and operational standards.\nJoin the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
