We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.\nWorkshop Engineer\nLocation: Xylem Water Solutions & Services (WSS) Rental Facility, Grantham\nThe Workshop Engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and preparation of rental assets within the Grantham Rental Facility. This includes electric submersible pumps, diesel-driven pumps, associated pipework, control equipment, and ancillary rental equipment.\nThe role is critical in ensuring rental assets are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational readiness, supporting customer requirements and service delivery across the business.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintenance & Repair\nCarry out servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on:\nElectric submersible pumps\nDiesel-driven pumps\nElectric motors\nControl panels and associated rental equipment\nDiagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete repairs efficiently.\nConduct routine preventative maintenance in accordance with company procedures.\nEnsure all repairs are completed to a high standard and in line with manufacturer specifications.\nAsset Preparation & Testing\nPrepare and inspect equipment for customer hire and delivery.\nPerform operational testing and quality checks prior to dispatch.\nComplete equipment inspections upon return from hire.\nCertify equipment as fit for service following maintenance and testing activities.\nEnsure all documentation relating to inspections, testing, and repairs is completed accurately.\nWorkshop Operations\nManage and maintain the workshop triage area, ensuring returned equipment is assessed promptly.\nIdentify and report damaged or missing equipment following hire returns.\nRecord damage findings and communicate repair requirements to the appropriate teams.\nMaintain accurate maintenance and repair records within company systems.\nSupport stock management activities, including spare parts identification and inventory control.\nGeneral Responsibilities\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop and yard areas.\nAssist with cleaning, refurbishment, painting, and general upkeep of rental assets.\nComply with all company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.\nSupport colleagues and assist with operational requirements across the rental facility as required.\nParticipate in continuous improvement activities aimed at increasing equipment reliability and workshop efficiency.\nSkills & Experience\nEssential\nStrong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.\nExperience diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment.\nKnowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, diesel engines, or rotating equipment.\nAbility to read and understand technical drawings, manuals, and service documentation.\nGood organisational skills with strong attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nFull UK driving licence.\nDesirable\nExperience working within a rental, utilities, water, construction, industrial, or engineering environment.\nFamiliarity with submersible pumps, diesel pump sets, generators, control panels, and fluid handling equipment.\nForklift truck licence.\nExperience using maintenance management or asset tracking systems.\nQualifications\nDesirable\nNVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.\nRelevant engineering apprenticeship.\nManufacturer training on pumps, diesel engines, or electrical equipment.\nPersonal Attributes\nSafety-focused and committed to high standards of workmanship.\nReliable, proactive, and self-motivated.\nStrong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.\nFlexible approach to workload and priorities.\nJoin the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
