We partner closely with cross-functional business units, sourcing, real estate, and executive leadership to maintain world-class controllership while modernizing financial operations through automation and intelligent workflows.\nAbout the Role\nThe Accounting Manager will be part of the Global Accounting & Reporting team which helps ensure the accuracy of accounting for all Yahoo entities. As an Accounting Manager focusing on Technical Lease Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will serve as a subject-matter expert for ASC 842 compliance, monthly controllership operations, and operational accounting close processes. In this role, you will lead complex accounting evaluations, oversee balance sheet reconciliations, and drive operational efficiency.\nThe ideal candidate would have experience with a variety of accounting functions. This role requires the candidate to have exceptional technical skills and to be experienced in strategic and analytical thinking with a firm emphasis on attention to detail. You will need to have the ability to communicate your work clearly with various groups and staff/management of all levels.\nResponsibilities\nLead the global accounting treatment and compliance for lease contracts under ASC 842, evaluating complex contracts (including embedded leases) in collaboration with Real Estate, Sourcing, and Legal teams.\nLeverage enterprise AI tools (such as Claude) and automated extraction workflows to review contract terms, identify lease commitments, and accelerate document abstraction while exercising professional judgment to validate accuracy.\nReview and approve right-of-use (ROU) asset/liability schedules, journal entries, monthly opex accruals, and cash flow disclosure packages for consolidated internal and external financial reporting.\nConduct advanced monthly balance sheet and P&L variance analysis\nOwn month-end general ledger reconciliations and controllership reviews, ensuring complete data integrity, internal control compliance (SOX), and timely issue resolution.\nServe as the key technical accounting liaison for internal and external auditors during interim reviews and annual audit cycles for lease and related operational areas.\nProactively identify opportunities to replace repetitive manual accounting tasks with automated workflows, AI-assisted data reconciliation, and process improvements across Oracle Financials and peripheral accounting systems.\nPartner with Finance leadership on ad hoc reporting and special projects as required\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance\n5+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience with deep working knowledge of US GAAP (specifically ASC 842 lease accounting).\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience managing complex balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close schedules, and financial variance analysis.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, data modeling, pivots) and modern enterprise ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Financials).\nDemonstrated experience incorporating AI tools (e.g., Claude, generative AI assistants) into daily business workflows \nProven ability to work autonomously, manage cross-functional priorities, and communicate financial insights clearly to stakeholders at all levels.\nPreferred Qualifications\nActive CPA license or equivalent professional certification.\nPublic accounting / audit experience \nHands-on experience with specialized lease accounting software systems.\nExperience developing structured prompts or leveraging automated reconciliation tools to improve accounting cycle speed and data accuracy.\nThe material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoopolicies;exercising sound judgment;working effectively, safely and inclusively with others;exhibiting trustworthinessandmeeting expectations;and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.\nAt Yahoo, we offer flexible hybrid work options that our employees love!
