We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Apprentice (Fitter) to join our growing team. Employees of Yarrabee Coal pride themselves on their constant commitment to safety, focus on teamwork, supportive work culture and continuous improvement through innovation.\nJob Tasks and Responsibilities\nWe are now recruiting for Mechanical Apprentice (Fitter) - Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade to work onsite at Yarrabee Coal Mine.\nAs a Yarrabee apprentice you will be appointed a Field Officer from MRAEL who will guide you through your trade, making sure every aspect of your training experience is rewarding and professional. The Field Officer provides you with consistent mentoring, support and performance management throughout your apprenticeship while ensuring you progress through your training and will coordinate block bookings when necessary. The Field Officer will have regular meetings to discuss your progression and any challenges you may have. You will also be supported by our Maintenance leaders and Training department on site.\nSkills and Experience\nSkills\nSound communication skills\nBasic computer skills, word processing\nCompleted or completing year 12 as a minimum\nAbility to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required\nSkilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues\nKnowledge\nAbility to learn individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations\nExperience\nPrevious experience in the maintenance of plant and machinery within a mining or heavy industry environment will be looked upon favourably (work experience)\nPrevocational courses will be acknowledged\nQualifications\nCurrent Manual Driver’s licence\nAbility to pass Yarrabee pre-employment assessments\nBenefits\nYancoal provides a range of benefits to appeal to the diverse needs of our employees.
