We work to dismantle doubts through well-researched truths, nurture conviction by strengthening belief with practical, spiritual guidance, and inspire contribution by reviving our tradition of faithful changemakers, insha’Allah. We’re seeking like-minded professionals who embody Islamic values including sincerity, excellence, and compassion, and want to make a difference in the faith of people worldwide.\nAt Yaqeen, we aim to provide our readers with trustworthy, intellectually compelling, and accessible research that inspires them towards a certainty of faith in Islam. Our book team carries that mission into long-form publications, working with scholars to produce manuscripts that dismantle doubts, nurture conviction, and inspire faith-driven contribution to society. We're looking for a developmental editor who can work closely with authors to sharpen structure, tone, and argument across a manuscript, while bringing enough Islamic literacy to catch substantive errors and strengthen the underlying scholarship itself.\nWhat you'll do\nIdentifying any weaknesses in the manuscript’s overall argument and structure, including gaps in research, repetition, distinctive language over-use associated with AI, weak transitions, and sections that need expansion or removal. \nReorganizing, tightening, and rewriting passages to strengthen structure, clarity, tone, and argument whilst preserving the author’s distinctive voice.\nSuggesting or verifying citations from classical or contemporary scholarship where needed.\nCommunicating directly with authors to suggest edits and collaboratively working through revisions.\nIncorporating peer-review feedback into subsequent drafts.\nCoordinating with the style/copyediting team to ensure manuscripts meet Yaqeen's citation and transliteration standards.\nQualifications/Required Skills:\nA minimum of 5 years experience:\nDevelopmentally editing long-form, non-fiction, research-based manuscripts (preferably in the field of religion, politics, or world affairs).\nCollaboratively working with authors and scholars through iterative revisions.\nIndependently managing a defined scope of work against a project timeline.\n\nAudience awareness: the proven ability to break sophisticated theological, philosophical, ethical, or legal arguments into manageable, engaging prose, adapting explanations and terminology to our readers’ levels of Islamic knowledge and backgrounds. You must be able to understand the intended reader: Muslim, non-Muslim, new Muslim, academic, general-interest reader, young adult, professional, etc and adjust explanations and linguistic choices accordingly without unnecessarily diluting intellectual depth. \nCritical analysis and argument formation: the proven ability to identify assumptions, overclaims, inconsistencies, weak evidence, anticipated objections, and areas requiring clarification. You must be able to formulate sound and appealing arguments, both linguistically and structurally - our publications are produced with a clear purpose to persuade, enlighten, and convincingly impart knowledge.\nVoice: the proven ability to preserve the author’s voice while improving clarity, authority, accessibility, and reader engagement.\nIslamic sciences: a proven grounding in the Islamic sciences with the ability to critically engage religious content, catch errors, and point to credible sources.\nYaqeen Institute embraces a philosophy that values and promotes diversity. Our goal is to attract, develop, retain, and advance a talented and diverse workforce within a culture where all employees are empowered to reach their fullest potential.\nPlease note that all career opportunities at Yaqeen Institute are subject to a three-month probationary period, during which we assess performance, alignment with our values, and mutual fit to ensure long-term success in the role.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4005,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Nonprofits & Foundations","Think Tanks & Policy Research"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-11T15:26:31Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":5,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.167,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":62,"expected_fill_days":7,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-26T05:57:25Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/yaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/yaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-26T20:23:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":27514,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-27T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":688589},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=688589"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fyaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fyaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fyaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/yaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fyaqeeninstitute-developmental-editor"}]}
