Assure quality of design / routing is maintained utilizing customer / internal specific requirements.\nUnique to Sr. Designer: Train and mentor less experienced Designers and substitute for Supervisor as required.\nUnique to Principal Designer: Same as Sr. Designer plus use expertise to identify and apply best practices, technologies and processes.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign\nDesign and package components and wire harnesses in a 3D vehicle environment, including splice locations at the harness level (where a splice is placed on the wire harness)\nIdentify critical packaging areas that require harness shielding or special support such as brackets, screw holes and weldnuts\nAdhere to customer specific drafting standards\nProvide support in the promotion of design proposals to wiring engineer and customer\nPrepare 3D model for release to customer\nDevelop concept design for harness shield components and brackets\nProvide 3D model optimization for technical, cost competitiveness and manufacturability\nSynchronize 3D and logic data\nInteract with Design Release Engineer to ensure design is feasible for customer assembly\nInteract with Application Engineer to ensure design is feasible for manufacturing\nDesign Verification\nCollaborate with DVP&R team to validate customer requirements\nSupport customer design reviews as required\nIssue Management\nCommunicate design issues driven by 3D to YNA Design Release Engineer for input into customer and USOEM BU issue/change management system\nAdditional Responsibilities for Sr. Designer and Principal Designer\nTrain and mentor less experienced Designers as required\nAct as substitute for Supervisor as required\nCreate and revise work instructions, processes and procedures\nCreate, and modify specifications and design guidelines\nAdditional Responsibilities for Principal Designer\nDetermine best practices and design processes\nDevelop strategies to facilitate engineering objectives, (process improvement, cost reduction, DFM, continuous improvement, etc.)\nYazaki North America is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, national origin, disability, handicap, veteran status, or other legally protected status or characteristic.
