Responsible for the instruction of Martial Arts classes for Children and Adults of all ages. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nCreate lesson plans to ensure skill progression for all ages advancing in belt levels.\nPlan and communicate belt-testing event to promote students within the class.\nPlan and prepare skill progression specific to martial arts for each class.\nInstruct martial arts skill progression for all ages advancing in belt levels.\nEnsure students are using proper form and structure.\nResponsible for martial arts students’ supervision and safety.\nAccurately track class attendance.\nProvide parent communication through daily connections, orientations and class overviews.\nComplete skill evaluations for each student in class and keep skill cards up to date for class selection\nand progression awards.\nFollows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nMinimum 18 years of age.\nHigh school graduate or equivalent preferred.\nSix months or more of related experience preferred.\nMartial Arts Instructors must demonstrate competence through completion of appropriate training sanctioned by a recognized Martial Arts National Governing Body.\nPositive attitude and previous experience with children and adults and diverse populations.\nCPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.\nComplete online Child Abuse Prevention training prior to first day.
