This part-time position supports the Food Service Manager in preparing and serving meals for overnight camp, day camp, groups, retreats, events, and other rental programs on our 360-acre property.\nThe Chef's Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring that guests enjoy nutritious, delicious meals in a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, working with people, and being part of a mission-driven organization.\nThis role will provide you with hands-on training, apprenticeship, and coaching from a professional chef to help grow your skillsets and knowledge in food service and kitchen management.\nResponsibilities\nAssist the Food Service Manager in planning, preparing, and serving meals for groups of various sizes.\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining hall environment.\nSupport in ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies.\nEnsure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices in compliance with health and safety standards.\nSupervise and assist kitchen volunteers or support staff as needed.\nProvide excellent customer service to all guests, ensuring positive dining experiences.\nWork as part of the Food Service team to support the overall mission of YMCA Camp Carter.\nQualifications\nMust be at least 18 years of age.\nPrevious cooking or food service experience required;
