In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.\nCORE FUNCTIONS:\n1. Safely leads energizing, fun, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the Y mission and goals.\n2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the Y, and actively participate in the Y’s annual support campaign.\n3. Within the scope of practice; answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.\n4. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.\n5. Keeps accurate class attendance records. Also responsible for storage and maintaining of the audio and studio equipment.\n6. Other duties may be assigned.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nThere are no supervisory responsibilities.\nRequirements\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nIndividual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:\nThere are no education requirements. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred. Area(s) of expertise certifications and training required.\nREASONING ABILITIY:\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to quickly changing room temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS:\nAbility to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nFrequently required to talk or hear. Must be able to conduct classes and activities. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.\nLANGUAGE SKILLS:\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
