We’re looking to expand our team across the board.\nWe’re looking for a passionate candidate with an Aerospace and Software background to expand our Simulation, Integration, and Test (SIT) team. The SIT department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful deployment and operation of satellites by providing support to critical areas: Flight Software, Ground Software, Vehicle Test, and Mission Operations. The department collaborates with engineering teams to develop and maintain modern software engineering standards that lead mission success. Additionally, it supports rigorous testing processes to validate hardware and software, minimizing risks prior to launch. On the ground, the department supportsthe seamless operation of ground software systems for satellite communication, monitoring, and control, facilitating real-time data analysis and mission management. Together, these efforts ensure that satellites are properly launched, placed into orbit, and operated efficiently, supporting a range of applications for our customers.\nThe ideal candidate will act as the critical interface between developers and our internal customers. They will be working across engineering teams to build and improve on simulation and test products and help integrate and test mission critical software.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDevelop features & bug fixes for SIT products with guidance from leadership and senior engineers\nDevelop automated tests for multiple systems such as flight and ground software\nTranslate high-level designs and requirements into high quality code.\nProvides direction to more junior engineers on feature development\nInteract with other York departments to support usage of SIT products\nSupport test-like-you-fly, test driven development for spacecraft flight software, ground software, and space vehicle integration\nWrite and execute test plan documents and use cases with collaboration from other York developers\nWrite robust and scalable features & tests to promote modularity and maximize re-use across departments\nPerform troubleshooting and debugging of SIT products, tools, and infrastructure\nFollow coding contribution standards and agile development practices\nCreate documentation and user guides\nCreate and maintain CI/CD pipelines\nCommunicate complex topics to non-technical audiences\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s degree or greater in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field\n2-4 Years of experience in Software Engineering or related field or greater\nDemonstrated proficiency with C++ or Python\nDemonstrated proficiency with Gitand modern day Agile software development practices & tools\nDemonstrated proficiency in a Linux environment\nDemonstrated proficiency with bash scripting\nExperience with Docker, Docker Compose, & containerization\nExperience with Full Stack development\nFamiliar with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, and reports.\nCapable of managing multiple tasks while delivering according to program milestones and deliverables\nCan proactively identify problems and communicate them clearly to leadership and/or more senior engineers\nProficient at writing and reading technical documentation\nUnderstanding and experience with API usage\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience in end to end system level automated testing\nExperience with Software in the loop test systems\nExperience with Hardware in the loop test systems\nExperience in modeling, analysis and validation of satellite subsystems\nExperience in developing Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis models\nExperience with embedded systems, networking, and pub/sub message middlewares\nExperience with build system tools such as CMake, SWIG,and package management\nExperience with UI/UX testing and full-stack web development, including backend development support for APIs and databases\nExperience with databases (SQL, Influx, Mongo)\nExperience with modeling and simulation tools such as NASA Trick, GMAT, and MATLAB/Simulink/Coder\nExperience testing hardware systems, preferably for space flight\nProficient with GitLab & CI/CD pipelines and using them for development\nSelf starter with the ability to pick up new concepts quickly\nYork Space Systems provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, military or protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
