With over 10,000 video systems under management worldwide - more than any other video communications service provider - Yorktel has the proven expertise and global reach to deliver enterprise-quality visual communications.\nYorktel is currently seeking a Fabrication Technician responsible for building, populating, wiring, and terminating equipment racks for high end Audio Visual and Videoconferencing facilities. Further, the Fabrication Technician will work with the Commissioning Engineering Team to stage, test, troubleshoot, and prep systems for shipping. The Fabrication Technician is responsible for meeting project commitments from a technical standpoint.\nResponsibilities:\nRegularly communicate with internal and external customers to achieve mutually desirable outcomes.\nTroubleshoot issues and make recommendations to internal parties and customers regarding concerns or issues.\nEnsure resolution of problems by working closely with assigned projects.\nCommunicate answers to complex questions and respond to detailed inquiries about fabrication issues.\nHandle and protect all internal and external confidential information, utilizing discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures.\nEnsure equipment racks are built, connected, and tested according to engineering drawings.\nRed-line engineering drawings to match fabrication adjustments.\nAssist in the quality testing of equipment prior to dispatch to the field.\nProvide leadership to junior employees through quality workmanship.\nLead multiple personnel throughout large-scale fabrication efforts.\nPerform cable dressing inside of racks.\nTechnical Responsibilities:\nExperience in the following areas is required: Audio Visual Solutions including Videoconferencing, Multimedia, Distance Learning, Facility coordination or Networking systems. \nExtensive use of business computer systems including Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Project. \nWorking knowledge of DSP devices - Clear One / Vortex / Biamp - would be desirable but not necessary. \nWorking knowledge of Control Systems - AMX / Crestron - would be desirable but necessary. \nCTS certification required within 6 months.\nSkills and Qualifications:\nStrong leadership and analytical skills.\nHigh level of initiative and autonomy.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels with clients and Yorktel.\nAbility to develop business relationships to accomplish organizational goals.\nStrong customer orientation and ability to interface with VP-level management in customer environments.\nProficient in cable dressing inside racks.\nAbility to read and understand flow diagrams.\nAbility to solder to IEC standards.\nBasic knowledge of Ohm’s law.\nAbility to work with others or independently, maintaining professionalism in stressful and fast-paced environments.\nAbility to follow detailed instructions.\nExcellent problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work well in a team environment.\nSelf-motivated with strong initiative.\nResults-oriented.\nWillingness to learn and progress.\nEducation and Experience:\nExperience in Audio Visual Solutions, including videoconferencing, multimedia, distance learning, facility coordination, or networking systems.\nWorking knowledge of DSP devices (Clear One / Vortex / Biamp) desirable but not necessary.\nExtensive use of business computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project).\nStrong program management knowledge and experience, including group facilitation and team-building skills.\nExperience developing and implementing improvement and change programs/processes.\nExperience managing third-party suppliers.\nAdditional Requirements:\nMay require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).\nRequires extensive sitting, standing, and walking.\nDomestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area.\nValid passport: International travel may be required.\nValid U.S. driver’s license.\nMust be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts.\nMust be willing to apply for security clearances, suitability, and other related clearances to work at certain customer locations.\nWorking knowledge of York Telecom policies and procedures.\nJoin us and you will enjoy an excellent salary and benefits package, including 401k and Flex 125 plans.\nWe conform to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action.
