Software Engineer II independently completes development work, leads smaller projects, participates in peer code reviews, mentors less-experienced engineers, and supports production systems.\nAgentic coding tools are the primary development workflow. Engineers are expected to use these tools from the start of employment, with guidance appropriate to their level, and remain accountable for the quality, security, and accuracy of their submitted work.\nPreference is given to candidates residing in Utah. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not provided.\nEssential Functions\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.\nContribute to the development and maintenance of Shopify custom applications, including embedded applications using React and Shopify App Bridge.\nWork with Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, Webhooks, and GraphQL to support commerce functionality and extend platform capabilities.\nDevelop and maintain APIs and integrations connecting Shopify with internal and third-party platforms, including order management, supply chain, and logistics systems.\nDevelop frontend and backend components using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, and C#/.NET.\nContribute to backend services and integrations running on AWS, including solutions using Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, and DynamoDB.\nWrite clean, testable, well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews appropriate to the position’s level.\nUse agentic coding tools to support development, including effective prompting, context management, and determining when manual development is appropriate.\nReview and test AI-generated changes to verify functionality, security, and alignment with team standards before submission.\nSupport troubleshooting, production issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and ongoing system improvements. Occasionally provide support outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to critical Priority 1 (P1) production incidents.
