The person in this role will work on both a modern technology stack and a legacy JavaScript/jQuery application, focusing on performance and scalability for clients managing tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of files. This is a hands-on engineering position that requires strong backend and frontend skills, operational awareness, and an attention to efficient processing of large media collections.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement and maintain backend services using PHP and Laravel with attention to performance and scalability.\nDevelop and maintain frontend components using React and TypeScript, ensuring responsiveness and maintainability.\nIntegrate and optimize data flows for large media collections, including processing, conversion and retrieval of images, video and other file types.\nBuild and maintain integrations with external systems and storage: SFTP/FTP, S3 and other cloud providers, YouTube, Dropbox, Google Cloud and social media platforms.\nImplement and maintain archival and download features (multi-file export as ZIP/TAR) and template-driven format conversion on download.\nWork on search functionality over metadata and custom attributes; contribute to plugin and extension systems and a Chrome extension.\nSupport and modernize legacy frontend code (JavaScript and jQuery) while developing new modules on the updated stack.\nParticipate in architectural discussions, code reviews and performance tuning; apply containerization and caching where appropriate (Docker, Redis/Valkey).\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver client-facing portals (configurable CMS-style interfaces) and meet operational requirements.\nQualifications\nMinimum three years of commercial experience working with PHP/Laravel and React in production environments.\nProficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript and familiarity with legacy JavaScript/jQuery applications.\nExperience with Docker and caching technologies such as Redis or Valkey.\nStrong understanding of web performance, scalability and optimization for large datasets and file collections.\nFamiliarity with integrations to cloud storage and external platforms (S3, FTP/SFTP, Google Cloud, YouTube, Dropbox) and building reliable import/export pipelines.\nPractical knowledge of building search by metadata and custom attributes, and handling file conversions on download.\nNice to have: exposure to Go, Next.js, Vite, basic Kubernetes knowledge, and practical experience using AWS console.\nAbility to work across legacy and modern codebases and to communicate
