The problems you work on will evolve over time - and that is intentional.\nMeko is our AI-focused product initiative, giving engineers an opportunity to work hands-on with modern AI technologies and build real-world AI-powered experiences.\nYou will:\nDesign, build, debug, and improve software across different parts of the YugabyteDB and Meko ecosystems.\nWork across areas such as distributed systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, APIs, developer tooling, automation, and AI.\nContribute to building and evolving Meko, including AI-powered products, experiences, and developer capabilities.\nInvestigate complex technical problems and drive them from problem identification through implementation and delivery.\nPrototype new ideas, evaluate emerging technologies, and turn promising experiments into production-quality solutions.\nIdentify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, reliability, automation, and customer experience.\nUse AI and AI-assisted development to accelerate engineering workflows, troubleshoot complex problems, automate repetitive tasks, and explore new product capabilities.\nCollaborate with engineers, product managers, architects, support, and customers to understand problems and develop practical solutions.\nTake ownership of projects with ambiguous requirements and bring clarity, structure, and momentum to them.\nLearn new technologies and domains quickly and apply them to real-world problems.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nTechnical Skills\nWe are looking for a generalist engineer with strong fundamentals rather than someone who knows only one technology deeply.\nYou should have:\nStrong programming and software engineering fundamentals.\nExperience with one or more languages such as Python, Go, Java, C++, or Rust.\nGood understanding of several areas such as:Distributed systems\nDatabases and data management\nCloud infrastructure\nContainers and Kubernetes\nLinux and systems engineering\nObservability, debugging, and performance\nAPIs and application development\n\nExperience building and operating production-quality software.\nStrong problem-solving and debugging skills.\nAbility to understand unfamiliar codebases and technologies quickly.\nFamiliarity with modern AI/LLM technologies and an interest in applying them to engineering and/or product problems.\nComfort working across the stack when the problem requires it.\nExperience with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS is a plus, particularly for engineers interested in building end-to-end product experiences.\nYou don’t need to be an expert in every technology listed above.
