Additional support with teachers in planning, organizing, and implementation of education best practices and services for children in the Head Start Program.\nCOLLABORATES WITH:\nEarly Childhood Team, Head Start Team, Early Head Start Team, YWCA Quality Team, Center Director, Center Staff, Child Care Resource and Referral Training Team\nESSENTIAL responsibilities:\n Works with classroom teacher in support of providing age appropriate activities for children that are aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework (HSELOF). \nConduct regular teacher observations utilizing a research-based coaching model to implement best teaching practices in the classroom. \nIntegrate a plan for ongoing professional development for teachers that supports Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and HSELOF. \nOffers Technical Assistance for the COPA Database, Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), as well as other education related programs. \nWorking knowledge of developmental screening tools ASQ and ASQ/SE.\nCoordinates Training and Technical Assistance efforts with the Child Care Resource and Referrals Quality Team. \nSupports and models nurturing and responsive practices, interactions, and environments that foster trust and emotional security. \nAssists with the direct planning of organized activities, schedules, and lesson plans including DAP in language, literacy, social and emotional development, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development using Creative Curriculum. \nAssist in the development of dual language acquisition. \nAssist in teacher-directed and child-initiated activities, active and quiet learning activities, large and small group activities. \nCoach best practices with structured assessments to evaluate each child’s progress using Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG). \nEarn CLASS Infant/Toddler Certification within one year.\nWorks closely with disabilities/mental health specialist to ensure inclusive services are provided to meet the needs of all children. \nWorks with partner child care providers and staff to establish plans and procedures to ensure the safety and security of children. \nUtilizes daily active supervision to ensure each site/program is compliant with all relevant licensing and Head Start Requirements. \nMaintains a strong understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Curriculum and ExceleRate Illinois.\n PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MEETINGS: \nParticipate in the Annual Self-Assessment and Community Assessment. \nAssist with two home visits and two parent teacher conferences per year with each parent. \nThrough the use of data, provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching sessions to colleagues and teachers. \nProvide support, training, and technical assistance to staff regarding the planning and implementation of culturally-responsive, developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences.\nCreate a Personal Professional Development Plan. \nA minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional training related to Early Childhood and/or to the responsibilities of the position is required annually. \nParticipate in center meetings. \nAssist in Policy Council Meetings. \nParticipate in YWCA Meetings as indicated by direct report.\nOTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Assist with planning YWCA special programs and events. Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task, or other assignment. Alignment with YWCA on the key deliverables. Establish and meet deadlines. Must become an ITN trainer within one year of employment with agency.\nEDUCATION REQUIRED:\nBilingual Spanish Language an Asset, Meet Department of Children and Family Services Requirements for Licensure, Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution.\nCERTIFICATION(s) REQUIRED:\nMinimum of Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nCandidate will have the ability to lift thirty-five (35) pounds, be able to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time.\nWORK SCHEDULE:\nMonday through Friday, occasional Saturdays.
