As AI transforms the future of financial services, we're building the platforms that help regulated organizations adopt AI responsibly and at scale.\nWhat is the Opportunity? \nThe QA Engineer III will be responsible for leading and executing functional quality assurance activities for complex banking and financial applications. The role requires strong hands-on manual testing expertise, practical automation experience, thorough test documentation skills, and solid database validation capabilities. The engineer will own end-to-end test coverage across backend processes, integrations, APIs, file-based workflows, and data validations, while working closely with developers, business analysts, product teams, and other QA engineers to ensure release quality. \nWhat will you do? \nOwn functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing for complex applications and backend workflows. \nAnalyze business and technical requirements, identify test scenarios, assess test coverage, and highlight requirements or design gaps early in the delivery lifecycle. \nCreate and maintain high-quality test documentation including test plans, detailed test scenarios, test cases, traceability matrices, test evidence, execution reports, and release-quality summaries. \nPerform database and backend validation using SQL to verify data integrity, transformations, transactional accuracy, and downstream processing results. \nValidate APIs and service integrations using tools such as Postman and support automation of repeatable API and backend regression scenarios. \nDevelop, maintain, and execute automated tests using appropriate UI, API, or backend automation frameworks; contribute to improving regression efficiency and coverage. \nPerform defect analysis and triage, provide clear reproduction details and supporting evidence, and collaborate with engineering teams through resolution and retesting. \nValidate file-based workflows, scheduled jobs, and inter-system data exchanges, including reconciliation of source and target results. \nEstimate testing effort, plan test execution, identify delivery risks, and communicate testing status and quality concerns to project and QA leads. \nMentor less experienced QA engineers on functional testing practices, test design, documentation quality, defect reporting, and effective validation techniques. \nContribute to QA process improvements, reusable test assets, automation candidates, and continuous improvement initiatives across the team. \nWhat do I need to succeed? \nMust Have: \n8+ years of software QA experience, with strong hands-on functional/manual testing expertise and meaningful experience with test automation. \nHands-on experience testing batch processing systems, including scheduled jobs, batch files, job dependencies, restart/recovery scenarios, and batch reconciliation. \nExperience with event-driven and data-intensive systems, including exposure to Kafka message flows, topics and payload validation, as well as ETL testing, data pipelines, source-to-target validation, transformation rules, and data reconciliation. \nStrong automation experience using tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, Java, Python, or equivalent technologies. \nExperience with modern delivery environments, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, and exposure to cloud-native or microservices architectures, Azure, and Kubernetes. \nExposure to AI-assisted QA, including GenAI testing tools, AI-based test design or automation, or practical use of AI to improve testing efficiency and coverage. \nBanking or financial services experience, with a solid understanding of the complexities and quality requirements of enterprise applications. \nBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline. \nProven ability to independently own testing for complex releases or functional areas, identify gaps and risks, and ensure quality throughout the delivery lifecycle. \nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document test results, communicate defects, and articulate quality risks. \nAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment, with a strong collaborative mindset and sense of ownership for product quality. \nNice to Have: \nHands-on experience testing batch processing systems, scheduled jobs, batch files, job dependencies, restart/recovery scenarios, and batch reconciliation. \nExposure to Kafka, including validation of producer/consumer message flows, topics, payloads, and event-driven integrations. \nExposure to ETL testing, data pipelines, source-to-target validation, transformation rules, and data reconciliation. \nExperience with automation technologies such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, Java, Python, or equivalent frameworks. \nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar delivery tooling. \nExposure to cloud-native or microservices-based environments, including Azure and Kubernetes. \nExposure to AI-assisted software testing, GenAI testing tools, AI-based test design or automation, or practical use of AI to improve QA productivity and coverage. \nBanking or financial-services domain experience. \nAdditional Job Details \nExpected Salary Range: $110-150K; we hire into multiple career levels for this role based on a candidate's experience, skills and demonstrated capabilities. \nAt Zafin, we invest in our people.
