There is 2,300 times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methane combined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal a cheap and vital contributor to a carbon-free electrical grid. We are revolutionizing the exploration process, setting new industry standards for discovery rates and finding new prospects at an unprecedented scale.\nThe Operations and Maintenance Technician position is responsible for day-to-day operations, repair and maintenance of the plant and wellfield equipment and auxiliaries of the Lightning Dock Facility. The O&M Technician will follow all safety, environmental, compliance and regulatory standards and ensure full plant optimization. To succeed in this role an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory, accurately and safely. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.\nOutcomes - Problems you’ll solve\nFollow all plant safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies at all times.\nDetect safety, environmental, and operational upsets quickly and take appropriate corrective action to minimize risk.\nProactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve plant and wellfield issues in a timely manner, recommending site-specific solutions.\nComplete required safety documentation including pre-job safety briefings, Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and all site safety permits.\nMonitor daily power plant and geothermal wellfield operations, including startup, balancing, performance evaluation, and daily reporting.\nOperate site mobile equipment (excluding NCCCO-rated cranes) and utilize hand, electric, and pneumatic tools safely and proficiently.\nPerform basic service, predictive, and preventive maintenance on plant and wellfield equipment using CMMS software.\nOperate, maintain, and identify plant systems and components, including valves, rotating equipment, instrumentation, and P&IDs.\nExecute lockout/tagout/tryout procedures and comply with all plant safety, fire protection, life safety, and process safety management systems.\nFollow direction from plant leadership, coordinate contractors as needed, contribute to operational improvements, and remain flexible to meet changing plant needs.\nOther duties as assigned\nCompetencies - What we’re looking for\nDemonstrates high integrity, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving abilities.\nPossesses strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans.\nSelf-motivated, able to inspire and motivate others, and receptive to constructive feedback.\nExhibits effective leadership and people management skills.\nProficient in computer applications (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and CMMS) with strong writing, grammar, and mathematical skills.\nStart, stop, and operate plant, wellfield, and auxiliary equipment at a basic operational level.\nOperate plant and wellfield systems from both the control room and in the field.\nIdentify, respond to, and assist in resolving upset or abnormal operating conditions accurately and efficiently.\nSupport optimization efforts to achieve the best operating point and maintain maximum plant output.\nEvaluate equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively recommend improvements.\nAssist with hourly, daily, and weekly site generation forecasting.\nDemonstrate the ability to work independently in plant and wellfield environments.\nMaintain knowledge of all regulatory compliance requirements and operating limits for plant and wellfield systems.\nMaintain regular attendance and punctuality, and perform other assigned duties as required.\nThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
