Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.\nThe Network Construction Inspector position monitors the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for projects of routine to moderate complexity. Assists PM and CM in job responsibilities; includes time both in the office as well as out in the field.\nWork Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, such as OPT, TN, H1B or any other type of work visa, now or in the future.\nResponsibilities\nOversees, inspects, and monitors contractual fieldwork which includes excavations, boring, placement of hand hole, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, and restoration of work areas. \nSchedules work and inspection phases with contractors, superintendent, and agency personnel. \nAdvises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to operations; ensures adherence to proper state-regulated safety procedures. \nTakes field measurements of trenches, restoration areas, and/or street cuts based on the drawings/as-builts to verify contractor billing; checks placement of and performs quality reviews of construction. Understands and maintains clearances (electrical and communication requirements). \nRecommends changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide project cost savings. \nMaintains project records which include daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, and pay quantity records. \nEvaluates and monitors progress schedules, prepares work orders, and monthly estimates. \nUploads documents and task advancement. \nSchedules and attends 3rd party walks. \nManages release of materials. \nReviews A&E deliverables (structural, drawings, 1As). \nParticipates in bid process and provides input. \nAdvances PMT tasks and completes administrative tasks, as needed. \nQualifications\nEducation/Certifications\nHigh School Degree or equivalent required \nTwo (2) year technical degree preferred \nA valid driver’s license required \nExperience/Minimum Requirements\nMinimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications construction inspection, OSP construction, utility construction, or related field experience.\n Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience working under California GO 95 and GO 128 standards, including inspection and verification of overhead and underground telecommunications construction.\nExperience inspecting aerial fiber, strand, conduit, handhole, boring, trenching, and restoration activities.\nExperience reviewing and enforcing utility clearance requirements, pole attachment standards, and construction safety practices.\nExperience reading and interpreting telecommunications construction drawings, engineering work prints, permits, and as-built documentation.\nExperience working directly with contractors, municipalities, utility companies, and third-party stakeholders.\nOther Skills/Abilities\nKnowledge of budget development and execution \nKnowledge of construction management process \nKnowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting process \nAbility to read and understand blueprints \nAbility to direct and diagnose work flow problems, critical paths and institute remedies \nCustomer focused orientation with a strong problem solving approach - strong interpersonal skills \nAbility to communicate effectively \nTime management skills \nKnowledge of wireless/telecommunications technologies and platforms \nComputer support (excel and mapping) and power experience and troubleshooting \nAttention to detail \nEstimated base pay range for this role is $28.00 - $34.51 USD / hour\nThe base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan.
