Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.\nThe Packet and Voice Engineer will be part of an optimization team that focuses on migrations to reduce cost and grooms customer and network circuits when required for real estate network projects.\nResponsibilities\nProvision customer and network services in routers, data switches, voice switching platforms and transport equipment.\nPerform maintenance window grooming of customer and network circuits in support of optimization efforts.\nIn-depth analysis on networks to reduce space, power and off-net costs. Develop plans for optimal use of network infrastructure. \nConfigure, test, and turn up new network devices and decommission legacy equipment. \nProvide support to field operations, NOC and other internal and external groups as needed. \nAudit network database inventory to identify impacted equipment and facilities for optimization and site vacate projects. \nPerforms other related duties or projects as assigned. \nQualifications\n At least five (5) years of experience with Ethernet, VoIP and Voice switching. \nExperience supporting carrier-grade Ethernet and IP services, including DIA, IP VPN, Ethernet, and WAN connectivity.\n Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, 802.1Q trunking, Layer 2 switching, and Layer 3 routing.\nUnderstanding of QoS, traffic classification, marking, queuing, shaping, and policing in IP networks.\nFamiliarity with network equipment and operating systems from vendors such as Cisco, Adtran, or equivalent platforms.\nIn depth understanding of voice features and products including SIP, PRI, CAS, GR303 and business lines. \nStrong knowledge of Voice networks including Metaswitch. \nExcellent customer management skills (verbal and written) including prioritization, risk analysis, conflict management/resolution. \nAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of functional teams, and strong interpersonal skills for supporting and advising sales teams on proper systems and process. \nStrong attention to detail, superb organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize. \nAbility to work across functional boundaries. \nSolve practical problems and deal with several variables in dynamic situations. \nAbility to be flexible in work schedule and to meet strict deadlines under minimal supervision. \nEducation\nBachelor's degree in a related field, equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. \nEstimated base salary range: $77,100 - $118,600 USD/annually\nWork Authorization Requirement: This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship.
