Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.\nZayo is seeking a Senior Network Maintenance Engineer to be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of the planned activity on the Zayo network. This includes ensuring that all changes are effectively planned, communicated and executed with minimal risk to network operations to minimize risks and service disruptions. The Senior Network Maintenance Engineer acts as the central point of contact for change requests, collaborates with stakeholders, and enforces adherence to change management policies and procedures.\nPlease Note: This position schedule is Night Shift Only.\nSchedule: Front Half Nights: 7pm - 7am CST\nDays: (Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed)\nRotate EOW: Mon/Tues/Wed\nNOTE: The team is open to this role located anywhere in the United States. The schedule is CST.\nThe Senior Network Maintenance Engineer also accepts and reviews maintenance requests from internal and 3rd party organizations, identifying the impact to customer services created by the maintenance activities using inventory records and logging into SONET and DWDM equipment to verify, notifying customers of the expected impact and duration through formal maintenance notifications, and when necessary, re-provisioning customer circuits to mitigate impact as a result of maintenance activities.\nResponsibilities:\nResponsible for all aspects of the Zayo network maintenance process including scheduling network maintenance activities, identifying customer impact using inventory systems and by logging in to advanced network tools and systems, issuing notifications to customers of maintenance events, provisioning customer circuits (if necessary), and closing out maintenance activities upon successful validation of completion.\nReview service orders to assess potential (circuit) impact of maintenance events, and determine customer services impact and provide notifications to customers on potentially impacted services based on customer preference. \nAccurately evaluate the impact, risk, and urgency of each change in collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders. \nInteract directly with internal and external leadership and executive staff on change management ticket acceptance, impacts, and moratorium exceptions.\nInteract with customers via written and oral communications, answering customer questions, addressing customer concerns, adjusting processes for customer specific requirements, and generally delivering a high level of customer satisfaction with the Zayo maintenance processes.\nInteract with other Zayo internal organizations to schedule & coordinate maintenance activities, ensure that proper policies are followed, and drive continuous improvement in the Zayo maintenance processes.\nCoordinate with third party providers to Zayo to ensure they provide ample notification of service impacting maintenance activities, including adequate definition of scope to be performed and anticipated timeframes of service impact. \nEscalate within the management chain of third party organizations when maintenance notifications are inadequate, lacking in sufficient detail or advance notification.\nAct as a liaison between technical teams, management, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on change-related activities.\nCommunicate change plans, schedules, and potential impacts to all relevant parties, including impacted customers. \nIdentify potential risks associated with proposed changes and develop mitigation strategies.\nAct as the escalation point during change implementation to resolve conflicts or unexpected issues.\nCoordinate rollback plans and contingency measures for failed or problematic changes.\nConduct pre-implementation and post-implementation reviews with stakeholders to gather feedback and improve future processes.\nPerform special projects and other duties as assigned.\nAct as a subject matter expert on our platforms and technologies.\nMentor and develop Network Maintenance Engineers.\nIdentify areas for departmental and process improvements and make recommendations to leadership.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree or two-year College degree or technical school diploma and additional related experience and/or training; or at least 11 years of directly related experience required.\nMinimum of seven (7) years of experience in change management, network operations, or a similar role in the telecom industry.\nExpertise with ITIL frameworks (ITIL Foundation certification preferred).\nExpert knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as the trouble ticketing and circuit inventory software.\nExpert knowledge of fiber optic network equipment and architectures, including SONET and DWDM equipment.\nExpertise with Telecom NOC operations and workflows.\nExpertise with telecom network technologies (e.g., IP/MPLS, LTE/5G, Fiber Optics).\nExpertise in Change Management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).\nExpertise in monitoring tools used in NOC operations.\nMust be able to interpret impact based on technical documentation. \nMust be able to read technical documents, interpret potential impact, and translate to multiple stakeholders including Technical personnel and outside customers. \nExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\nGreat customer service skills.\nEffective interpersonal skills.\nExceptional attention to process, documentation, and details.\nAble to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously.\nWork nights and/or weekends as scheduled or necessary by workload or emergency maintenance activities.\nWork well as a part of a team as well as be able to perform as an individual with minimal supervision.\nDependable.\nAble to train and develop less experienced Engineers. \nEstimated base salary range: $95,100 - $146,300 USD/annually.\nThe base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan.
