The role serves as an internal physical security technology subject matter expert supporting project managers and systems designers. The System Design Engineer contributes to the development of ZBeta engineering and technical consulting tools and processes.\nYou are a resourceful, knowledgeable, and self-motivated security professional who thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment.\nCORE COMPETENCIES\nGrowth Minded: Strong self-awareness of strengths and development areas with a curiosity and appetite for change and innovation\nAdaptable: Ability to adjust to changing circumstances, conditions, and tasks quickly and effectively\nCollaborative: Ability to solicit and understand multiple perspectives\nEvaluative: Ability to evaluate outputs rigorously to ensure consistent excellence in delivery\nAccountable: Assumes responsibility for successfully accomplishing work objectives and delivering results; setting high standards of performance for self and others\nPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:\nDesign\nCreate, edit, review, and proof ZBeta design and engineering drawings package components: plans, details, diagrams, schedules, estimates, and programming matrices.\nParticipate in project technical architectural design and coordination efforts including those for door hardware, device mounting, mechanical and electrical infrastructure; and structured cabling and network/telecom infrastructure.\nPresent calculations, make recommendations, review, and make comments on architectural specifications, and review and make comments on contractor submittals.\nTechnical Study\nConduct technical studies, such as cable distance and voltage drop calculations; cable fill and conduit sizing calculations; electrical power requirements and heat loading calculations; equipment test fits for wall and rack layouts; camera angle to target and pixels on target; network bandwidth and storage requirements; IDF loading, and systems cost estimation.\nProduct Research\nConduct product research and engage in continuing technical education in physical security systems software, equipment, and related infrastructure technologies (network, server, storage, etc.).\nConduct technology assessment and comparison studies.\nTroubleshoot\nResearch and resolve client and project issues related to codes, standards, and regulations applicable to physical security systems.\nAssist consulting and project management staff with technical troubleshooting and technical issues resolution.\nQuality Assurance\nSupport system testing and commissioning activities.\nConfirm proper function, operation, performance, and compliance vs applicable standards, requirements, and design documentation.\nProject Management\nWork within the project budget and timeline to ensure a timely, cost-effective design delivery.\nParticipate in project meetings to gain an understanding of the scope of work and project goals.\nProvide project leadership for the System Designers and work collaboratively with the Project Manager on projects from design to closeout.\nRequirements\nWHAT YOU'LL NEED\nExperience:\n5+ years of security system design and/or security technology experience is required\n2+ years Revit &/or AutoCAD experience is preferred\nEducation:\nAssociate degree, Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Electrical Design, or relevant work experience\nKnowledge:\nProficiency in Lenel security system hardware and programming required\nGenetec, C•CURE, and other security system hardware and programming are a plus\nSkills:\nHighly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software\nProficiency in Bluebeam and Navisworks\nProficiency in Computer-Aided Design software such as Revit & AutoCAD is required\nHighly organized with exceptional attention to detail and work quality\nAbilities:\nTechnical aptitude and a facility with software applications are required\nExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to organize and present design information to clients\nWHAT WE OFFER\nCompetitive salary based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications\nZBeta is a remote-first company with a distributed team.
