Develops testing and troubleshooting strategies, devices, and systems for firmware. Integrates firmware to maintain functionality, throughput and consistency. Develops user documentation.This is a hybrid position working on-site at our corporate office located in Lincolnshire, IL for a minimum of 3 days a week.\nResponsibilities:\nEstablishes, implements, and maintains embedded firmware for the organization's Thermal printer products and solutions. \nResearch, design and develop new technology for platform in support of organization ‘s strategy vision. \nGrow competency on wide range of Product framework, HALs, Linux Kernel drivers from Peripheral and Network communication, and real time controls, and be the go-to-person for questions. \nEstablishes requirements for highly complex firmware design projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Ensures that the correct features are incorporated first in the projects. \nArchitects and designs highly complex firmware projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities. \nDrives code review of projects. Develops and applies technical and quality improvements. \nCreates new programs, technologies, and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Ensures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by software teams. \nUses status as a knowledge leader in firmware design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program. \nDefines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems. \nReviews firmware test results and root cause analysis. Resolves highly complex technical issues. \nReviews changes or upgrades to existing firmware designs. Develops new solutions to unique problems. \nIdentifies issues, and makes recommendations for complex problems. \nMakes modifications to or upgrades existing firmware designs via patches and generating new code. \nExercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. \nEnhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions. \nInitiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines. \nMay coordinate the activities of other personnel. \nMakes recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve product quality. \nExercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. \nAdvance internal processes to improve efficiency and performance on executions. \nNetworks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership \nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related fields) with 8+ years of relevant experience \nSignificant experience delivering platform product embedded firmware development. \nProven experienced in programming languages C/C++ \nExperience in the following: ARM architecture, embedded microcontroller architecture, multi-core systems, RTOS, embedded Linux, filesystems, storage memory, networking, platform libraries, etc. \nSkills in platform architecture, Object Oriented Programming, software design patterns, devices driver development. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nDevelopment experience in I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN, Modbus, WLAN, PWM, ADC, Bluetooth, Ethernet, others Microcontroller peripheral. \nGood knowledge in the use of Oscilloscope, Bus analyzer, emulator and other firmware debugging tools. \nFamiliar with electrical interface, schematic diagram, electronic component specification and datasheet. \nGood understanding in embedded RTOS and POSIX implementation including scheduling policy, synchronization methods, Interrupt Service Routine, external library integration, FileSystems, Memory allocation. \nPreferred experience with Stepper motor, network, MQTT, and security. \nParticipate in Agile (SCRUM/KanBan) development process \nExperience of prototype board bring up, bootloader development, ARMCC toolchain is a plus. \nEqual Opportunity Employer:\nZebra is an equal opportunity employer.
