Everyone is hands-on, and decisions are made quickly, without layers or unnecessary processes.\nIf this resonates, let’s meet.\nAbout the role\nAs an Operations Specialist at Zeffy, you'll play a critical role in protecting our platform and users as we scale across North America and expand into new markets like Australia, the UK and, the EU.\nThe challenge? As our products and payment operations expand, new fraud patterns appear and fraudsters constantly push the limits of our defenses. Bad actors are also deploying AI to generate sophisticated fraud schemes. Your mission is split 50/50: managing the frontline-conducting in-depth reviews on suspicious NPO queues and handling direct verification correspondence with nonprofit leadership-while cracking the operational load to find the big, radical solutions that cut fraud management time in half.\nOver the past few months, our fraud team has:\nIncreased user satisfaction with fraud verifications by 20 points, setting a best-in-class benchmark for frictionless security.\n\nAutomated nonprofit background checks through cloud AI agents, enhancing fraud detection and proactively identifying compliance gaps.\n\nKept fraud losses around 1% of margin, striking the perfect balance between strong protection and healthy growth.\n\nStreamlined payment dispute handling, cutting processing time by 3× through smart automation.\n\nOperations Principles at Zeffy:\nFast decisions, faster implementation: We're a very small team, which means rapid decision and implementation cycles.\n\nFull-stack mindset: From frontline to systems. If you have the better solution, you’ll be given ressources to implement it.\n\nPreferred experience (qualifications)\nWe're looking for someone with 0-2 years of experience (this can be your first job!) in operations, back-office functions, or customer-facing roles, ideally in a startup, fintech, or payment company. Prior fraud experience is not required: we can train you from scratch.\nWe move fast by keeping things simple, and we want someone who shares that mindset.\nYou're an empathetic communicator with clear communication in French and English, strong client focus, and ability to build trust while handling sensitive cases.\n\nYou have a investigative analytical instinct. You love connecting the dots and spotting weird behaviors. You've worked with data - spreadsheets, SQL, BI tools, or anything in between to build logic, and dig until you find emerging patterns. You don't need someone to hand you the answer.\n\nYou have high grit and a finisher's discipline. You get genuine satisfaction from closing loops, achieving backlog zero, and resolving thorny edge cases. You take pride in meticulous execution and the daily grind-you want to be on the frontline, not in an armchair strategy role.\n\nYou have an operational hacker mindset. When you see a repetitive task, your first instinct is to fix it - not just flag it. You've used automation tools, written scripts, or built workflows to cut waste.
