Make a difference, come join the team!\nWhat’s the role?\nThe Senior Field Service Engineer is a highly experienced technical expert who services, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs complex ZEISS equipment at customer sites. This person handles difficult technical problems independently, minimizes equipment downtime, and serves as a technical resource for both customers and other service engineers.\nSound Interesting?\nHere’s what you’ll do:\nInstall, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair highly complex equipment, systems, and associated accessories across the assigned portfolio. \nDiagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures, applying sound judgment to develop practical solutions aligned with customer needs and organizational objectives. \nCoordinate and implement complex technical solutions and determine the most cost-effective resolution to minimize customer downtime. \nProvide advanced technical and scientific support to customers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams, including support for significant, unique, or escalated issues. \nPerform installation, maintenance, and repair activities domestically and internationally, as business needs require. \nBuild and proactively maintain strong relationships with customers and sales teams, particularly for technically complex applications. \nApply knowledge of customer business drivers, service key performance indicators, and ZEISS commercial objectives to improve financial performance and identify new business opportunities. \nPlan and deliver complex technical training for customers and employees, including on-the-job, regional, factory-based, and on-site training as qualified. \nGuide and support new or less experienced team members by sharing technical expertise, service knowledge, and best practices. \nServe as a local subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for designated products, systems, or technical topics. \nPrepare, adapt, and maintain technical documentation and define spare-parts lists as required. \nComplete service reports, expense reports, quality reports, and other required documentation accurately and within established timeframes. \nExercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve effective service outcomes. \nSupport multiple product markets and contribute technical insight that may influence longer-term local service goals and priorities. \nDo you qualify?\nAssociate degree, technical certification, or equivalent technician training in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, engineering, a natural science, or a related technical field; a bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences or comparable institution is preferred. \nThree to five years of relevant professional experience in a field service or technical service environment. \nExperience servicing automated systems; experience with electron- or ion-beam systems is preferred. \nAdvanced technical knowledge demonstrated through relevant experience, completion of required product training, and a strong understanding of assigned products and service processes. \nExperience working in multinational, cross-functional teams and managing customer relationships and escalated technical issues. \nStrong service and customer orientation, including experience supporting demanding customers. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German-language skills are beneficial for technical support and training. \nStrong teamwork, communication, sound judgment, assertiveness, and hands-on problem-solving skills. \nWillingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%. \nCompensation:\nThe annual pay range for this position is$91,000 - $114,000\nThe pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.\nThis position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. \nWe have amazing benefits to support you as an employee at ZEISS!\nMedical\nVision\nDental\n401k Matching\nEmployee Assistance Programs\nVacation and sick pay \nThe list goes on! \nThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for this job.
