Across any pricing model, any entity structure, any currency.\nOur vision: Zero-Touch Finance. Agents execute. Humans supervise. Finance teams set the rules. Zenskar runs them.\nFounded by Apurv Bansal and Saurabh Agarwal, second-time founders whose previous startups were acquired by Snapdeal and Gaana. The team brings experience from Google, Deutsche Bank, Elevation Capital, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and Harvard Business School.\nWe have 5x'd revenue in the past year. We are default alive.\nFunding\nWe raised $15M in Series A funding in April 2026, led by Susquehanna Venture Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Shine Capital, and Rho, with participation from Rocketship, J-Ventures, Future Back Ventures by Bain & Company, and Converge.\nThe funding is being used to expand our Agents Marketplace and scale operations, not headcount.\nRead the announcement →\nhttps://youtu.be/jRb2ybvrSwU?si=vuLLgUY_MFdRzDMl\nSee how Zenskar automates the full order-to-cash cycle, from contract to cash,\nwithout spreadsheets, workarounds, or engineering tickets.*\nThe Problem We're Solving\nFinance teams aren't struggling because they lack AI tools. They're struggling because the systems underneath those tools were built for a simpler world. These systems label real-world complexity as edge cases and force teams into costly, error-prone workarounds: revenue leakage, delayed collections, audit risk, and finance teams buried in grunt work.\nBolting AI onto these broken foundations is as good as a Ferrari engine on a horse-drawn carriage. Zenskar is purpose-built from the ground up: the architecture handles complexity natively, so AI actually works.\nIt combines foundational flexibility + deterministic calculation + purpose-built AI agents to deliver end-to-end automation across the order-to-cash cycle - without workarounds, without engineering tickets.\nThe B2B billing and revenue automation market is $2B today, projected to reach $10B by 2030.\nWhat Customers Say\n\"We're saving 200+ hours/quarter on invoicing and receivables by completely automating our recurring billing.\"Noy Kalansky, Finance Controller, Pontera\n\"Zenskar automates revenue recognition accurately for our value-based billing: agents reducing manual hours by 70%.\"\nMatt Barnard, VP Finance, Vertice\n\"Zenskar’s agents automated 90% of our billing, integrated with our CRM, and accelerated revenue collection by a month.\"\nMing Lui, VP Finance, Yembo\n\"Sardine had spent 4 years running billing in-house for high-volume, usage-based pricing. Zenskar took care of it all.\"\nSardine team\n\"We launched our product 4 months faster instead of building an in-house system for our usage-based pricing.\"\nKshitij Gupta, CEO, 100ms\nAbout the role\nWe’re looking for a senior, hands-on engineer who can own meaningful product and technical problems from the first unclear conversation to a healthy production rollout.\nThis is primary a backend role. This is not a role where seniority means moving away from code.\nYou will not have direct reports by default. Your leverage comes from sound decisions, clear execution, strong reviews, and making it easier for other engineers to contribute.\nBilling experience is not required. A healthy respect for correctness is.\nWhat you'll walk into\nOur backend is primarily Python and Postgres on AWS, running a multi-tenant platform. Prior experience with this exact stack is useful, but not required.\nThe software moves money and sits between customers’ CRM and ERP systems. The interesting failures are often not loud exceptions-they are retries, duplicate actions, partial state, unclear audit trails, slow workflows, and an edge case that quietly creates the wrong invoice.\nAt the same time, finance teams should not need to understand our architecture to use the product. SDE3 engineers help make complex rules feel simple without hiding operational risk.\nProjects you might work on\nThe exact project depends on product priorities, but SDE3-sized work could include:\nBuilding multi dimensional pricing model in core billing engine to help support our clients’ complex billing needs\nScale our clickhouse server to handle 5x data growth we foresee over the next year.\nMake our CRM/ERP integrations reliable by ensuring retries, idempotency, status visibility, recovery, and customer-facing failure states are present.\nBuild AI Agent to help parse contract PDFs reliably\nYour first 30 days\nThe first month is about building context quickly while remaining useful. By the end of 30 days, we expect you to have:\nLearned the core journey from customer contracts and usage data to invoices and revenue workflows.\nShipped several safe changes, including at least one production bug fix.\nParticipated in a real production investigation and understood the relevant logs, metrics, and operational tools.\nReviewed code and established working relationships with product, design, solutions, and engineering peers.\nIdentified one medium-sized problem to own and written or contributed to a clear technical plan.\nAsked enough questions to expose assumptions rather than quietly building the wrong thing.\nBy 90 days\nBy the end of 90 days, you should be operating as the clear owner of a meaningful project or milestone. That means you can:\nTurn an ambiguous goal into an agreed scope, design, delivery plan, and set of explicit risks.\nMake and defend decisions across APIs, data, failure modes, reliability, and operability.\nBreak work down so one or more engineers can contribute effectively.\nPlan migration, backward compatibility, rollout, monitoring, and recovery-not bolt them on after implementation.\nShip a meaningful milestone and verify its correctness and product outcome in production.\nOwn at least one difficult production investigation through diagnosis, mitigation, and follow-up.\nProvide useful code and design reviews that improve both the implementation and the engineer.\nExplain what should happen next: remaining risks, technical debt, product gaps, and the next sensible investment.\nA strong 90-day outcome is not “completed every ticket.” It is “created clarity, shipped something meaningful, and left the system and team easier to operate.”\nWho you are\nYou have roughly 5-7 years of professional software-development experience; scope and evidence matter more than an exact year count.\nYou have personally shipped and operated production systems used by real customers.\nYou remain comfortable coding, debugging, reviewing changes, and reading unfamiliar systems.\nYou have deep backend experience and can work across APIs, data, asynchronous processing, infrastructure, and production operations.\nYou have owned at least one substantial project through production and can explain your personal decisions and outcomes.\nYou work effectively with product, design, customer-facing teams, and engineers with different levels of experience.\nYou have helped other engineers become more effective through reviews, pairing, planning, or mentorship.\nGood to have\nNone of these are mandatory:\nPython, Postgres, AWS, or distributed-systems experience.\nAWS, Docker, CI/CD, background jobs, or event-driven systems.\nExperience with multi-tenant B2B software and external integrations.\nHands-on observability using logs, traces, metrics, and production profiling.\nBilling, payments, accounting, fintech, or revenue-automation exposure.\nExperience using AI coding tools without outsourcing judgment or understanding.\nLocation\nHybrid - 3 days per week\nOffice Location: Indiranagar, Bengaluru.\nAddress: 3rd Floor, A wing No 1, Carlton Towers, HAL Old Airport Rd, HAL 2nd Stage, Indiranagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560008.\nInterview process\nOur process is practical and evidence-based. The live technical rounds are capped at 60 minutes; the project/HM conversation is 90 minutes with a short reset.\nR0, Introductory conversation: A 15-20 minute conversation about role alignment, current scope, hands-on engineering, location, compensation, and motivation.\nR1, Debugging and correctness: A 60-minute practical exercise in Python, Java, or Go using a small existing codebase and supplied tests. The goal is to diagnose and safely correct consequential problems-not solve an algorithm puzzle.\nR2, Technical design: A 60-minute deliberately underspecified, Zenskar-shaped design problem. You will clarify it, design an implementable solution, discuss failure and evolution, and drill into one component.\nR3, Project and Hiring Manager deep dive: A 75-minute conversation with the Hiring Manager: one substantial project in depth, followed by collaboration, feedback, mistakes, mentoring, motivation, and the environment in which you do your best work. No presentation is required.\nR4, Engineering Leadership: A final 30 -minute conversation with our Head of Engineering or CTO about engineering judgment, product and business trade-offs, your growth trajectory, and Zenskar’s direction. It is assessed, but there is no additional coding or system-design exercise.\nDuring technical rounds, documentation and syntax search are allowed. AI can help only with syntax or an isolated generic utility; it cannot solve, debug, or design the interview problem for you.\nCandidate FAQs\nCommon technical-round FAQs\nWhich programming languages are supported?Round 1 is available in Python, Java, and Go. Tell the recruiter your preferred language before the interview. The problem, tests, and evaluation criteria are equivalent across languages; niche language trivia is not assessed.\n\nCan I use the internet or documentation?Yes. Standard language and library documentation, web search, and syntax references are allowed.\n\nCan I use AI tools?Yes, within a limited boundary. AI may help with syntax, standard-library reference, or a small isolated generic utility that can be described without the interview problem. Tell the interviewer before using generated code and be able to explain and change it.\n\nWhat AI usage is not allowed?Do not share the problem, repository, tests, failures, stack traces, domain models, or error messages. Do not ask AI to design, implement, debug, or review the interview solution. Repository-aware chat, agent mode, and problem-aware autocomplete are not allowed.\n\nWhy is limited AI allowed? We are not testing memory for syntax, and engineers use modern tools at work. The boundary keeps the candidate’s reasoning visible and the assessment comparable.\n\nRound 1 FAQs\nWhat should I expect in this round? At the beginning of the interview, you will receive a small, working project containing a few issues. The project will include an existing test suite. Your task is to understand the codebase, investigate the failures, and fix as many issues as you reasonably can during the interview.\n\nWill I receive the project before the interview? No. The project will be shared once the interview begins. You are not expected to prepare for or review the specific project beforehand.\n\nWill I need to write tests or build a project from scratch? No. The project and tests will already be provided. You are not expected to write new tests or build an application from scratch. We might ask you to code a small extension though.\n\nWhat are you evaluating? We primarily evaluate how you approach an unfamiliar codebase and debug problems systematically. This includes how you:Understand the existing code and requirements\nInterpret test failures and other signals\nForm and validate hypotheses\nIdentify root causes\nExplain your reasoning and trade-offs\nMake safe, focused changes\n\nYou are not necessarily expected to find or fix every issue. Your debugging process and reasoning are more important than simply reaching the final answer.\n\nWhich programming languages are supported? We currently support Java, Python, Go, and JavaScript. Please tell the recruiter which language you would...","description_format":"text","description_chars":15079,"description_truncated":true,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"India","iso":"IN","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Billing & Subscription Management","Accounting & Tax Software"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-20T06:58:04Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":75,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.834,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":17,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-10-31T05:58:55Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":52830,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/zenskar-sde-3","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/zenskar-sde-3.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-31T11:39:02Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":17922,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-01T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2844},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2844"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fzenskar-sde-3"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fzenskar-sde-3"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fzenskar-sde-3"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/zenskar-sde-3\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fzenskar-sde-3"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":2902419}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"zenskar.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":2902419},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
