This role analyzes test data, prepares reports, and communicates findings across the organization. This position is based on site at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon and reports to the Lead Applications Engineer.\nApplication Test Engineer Job Duties: \nDevelop and execute test plans to evaluate the feasibility of novel customer applications for NiZn battery systems\nCreate test plans aligned with customer, product, and functional requirements\nDefine testing requirements and specify appropriate test stands, fixtures, and equipment needed to execute test plans\nEvaluate new product application requests to determine feasibility and define appropriate application testing requirements\nSet up, configure, and adapt test stands and measurement equipment to ensure testing is performed accurately and in accordance with requirements\nInstall and integrate devices under test (DUTs) in appropriate test stands and equipment\nDevelop, implement, and validate automated test algorithms to ensure data integrity, repeatability, and test reliability\nConduct and lead safety and risk assessments in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure hazards are identified, mitigated, and managed in accordance with internal procedures, external regulations, and industry best practices\nInitiate and monitor test protocols, ensuring proper operation of test stands and equipment to achieve valid and reliable results\nAnalyze test data using standard statistical methods to assess application feasibility and prepare clear, concise technical reports summarizing findings\nDevelop test schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing regular updates to stakeholders regarding progress, risks, delays, and next steps\nCollaborate with engineering and technical teams to support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of test methods and setups\nCoordinate with customers, third parties, and test laboratories to define requirements, assess technical feasibility, ensure testing needs are met, and recommend appropriate solutions \nJob Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field\n3+ years of test engineering experience or a related role\nExperience with electrochemical energy storage systems from the cell to system level (i.e., NiZn based, Lithium-ion, or similar battery technologies)\nDemonstrated ability to interpret and work from technical requirements and specifications\nProficiency in data analysis and standard statistical methods\nExcellent time management and organizational skills\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to test stands, instrumentation, and measurement systems\nExperience analyzing data and preparing technical reports and presentations using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Python, and/or other data analysis tools\nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment\nStrong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively both internally and externally\nHands-on experience using common machine shop tools to modify or build test fixtures and equipment \nPreferred Experience/Skills:\nMaster’s degree in engineering or a related technical related field\nExperience with battery cyclers and other standard electrochemical test equipment\nExperience with battery energy storage system applications, particularly in the data center market \nKey Competencies:\nAttention to detail and organizational skills\nAnalytical thinking and problem-solving skills\nExcellent communication skills - verbal and written\nTeamwork and cross-functional collaboration\nCuriosity and adaptability \nPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:\nAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop and ability to climb ladders as needed \nAbility to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including protection against high voltage hazards when required\nAbility to lift up to 25 pounds\nAbility to hear audible signals and close visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors\nManufacturing, office, R&D and engineering laboratory environments\nMust be able to maintain a level state of alertness while performing this job \nSalary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. \nIn addition, the successful candidate for this position will become eligible for a comprehensive set of outstanding benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, paid sick time, paid time off for vacation, paid holidays, paid community service days, professional/personal learning program, and applicable state/federal paid family leave. \nZincFive is committed to employing a diverse workforce.
