This includes design, implementation, debug, test, and post-production support in a regulated environment. Additional responsibilities include development and maintenance of design documentation, participation in technical reviews, and providing technical support to other internal cross-functional groups. May also support research, design, and technical feasibility projects. This position requires the candidate to possess a high level of creativity and apply knowledge of engineering principles.\nEssential Functions\nEmploys the appropriate level of engineering rigor to mechanical designs ensuring product robustness, reliability, and patient safety.\nDesigns plastic injection molded parts with an understanding of best practices, material selection, tooling, and troubleshooting.\nUtilize 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software with a basic understanding of modeling techniques.\nEmploys CAE simulation software to verify design element(s) including but not limited to FEA, CFD, and mold flow.\nDesigns electro-mechanical assemblies and mechanisms.\nDesigns and fabricates custom test fixtures.\nCreates 2D engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards.\nGenerates and processes Engineering Change Orders.\nConducts tolerance analysis of mechanical assemblies.\nSupports design reviews with a high level of scrutiny and thoroughness.\nExecutes project related deliverables while effectively communicating to the appropriate stakeholders within the organization.\nSupports advanced development technical feasibility studies for future generation products.\nConducts product failure investigations, root cause analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE) process for sustaining engineering activities.\nUses interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal and external teams effectively.\nContributes to engineering Verification/Validation activities.\nSupports mechanical engineering sustaining activities.\n Required/Preferred Education and Experience\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field strongly preferred\nIn lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related technical field with significant industry experience (10+ years) will be considered\n0-3 Mechanical Engineering experience required\n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nUnderstanding and practical working knowledge of various manufacturing processes and fabrication methods (e.g. machining, casting, sheet metal, adhesives) and their associated limitations, benefits and tradeoffs.\nProficient utilizing PLM/PDM (Windchill preferred).\nProficient utilizing SolidWorks and/or Creo.\nUnderstanding and practical working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (ANSYS preferred).\nGeneral experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).\nMust have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\nFundamental understanding and experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).\nTravel Requirements\nOccasional travel as job requires for team meetings, project site visits, or vendor discussions.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nStanding - Occasionally\nWalking - Occasionally\nSitting - Constantly\nTalking - Occasionally\nHearing - Occasionally\nRepetitive Motions - Frequently\nZOLL is a fast-growing company that operates in more than 140 countries around the world.
