This role does not offer relocation.\nJob Type\nHybrid\nJob Summary\nAs a member of the leading-edge Advanced Development team in the Research and Development (R&D) organization, Senior Software Engineer - Advanced Development is responsible for providing technical and project leadership in software development as well as prototyping and developing software, including both application and embedded system level code, for new life saving technologies that advance the practice of resuscitation. Responsible for performing work within the Advanced Development team and collaborating with cross-functional team members in scientific affairs, product development, marketing, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing.\nEssential Functions\nLeads in the development of software solutions for algorithms and technologies within the Advanced Development organization\nContributes to the development of technology roadmaps; provides technical leadership for software elements\nLeads development of software plans, schedules, and work estimates\nAnalyzes and creates preliminary software requirements from product and system requirements\nPrototypes, documents, and develops software architectures for complex software products\nDevelops, documents, and maintains high quality software designs, source code, and unit tests for algorithms, technologies, or supporting software such as tools (e.g., parsers, simulators)\nContributes to software integration activities for algorithms and/or technology software into device software and hardware subsystems\nDevelops, reviews, and often executes software verification protocols for advanced development algorithms and technology software\nIdentifies, recommends, and leads software prototyping of potential customer solutions\nStays current with software engineering trends and technologies through activities such as self-study, attending webinars, seminars, user group meetings and conferences\nFollows and improves standard operating procedures and software engineering best practices\nMentors, guides, and supports less experienced software engineers\nCollaborates with team members and contributes to positive team environment that creates high quality solutions\nRequired/Preferred Education and Experience\n BS degree required or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related engineering or science discipline \n MS degree preferred \n 5+ years of experience of hands on design and development experience \n 3+ years of embedded software application development \n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nProficient in C/C++ and object oriented design (OOD) \nExperience with real time operating systems (e.g., Green Hills Integrity, Mentor Graphics Nucleus, QNX, Micrium) required \nExperience with device driver development desired \nExperience with application development for both real-time and non-real time applications (e.g., Windows, Linux, iOS) required \nExperience in a structured development environment with design controls preferred \nExperience with web technologies (database, REST, HTML 5, JavaScript) desired \nExperience with test automation and test development for automation (e.g., Google Test, Jenkins) desired \nExperience with user interface development and technologies (e.g., Qt, Crank, Peg) desired \nIn-depth technical knowledge and experience in embedded systems, computer architectures, software programming (embedded and application), and integration with hardware/electronics \nDemonstrated innovativeness through solutions in software development, architectures, algorithms, code development, and/or related engineering problems \nKnowledge and experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python \nPositive attitude and affinity for teamwork, logic, innovation, initiative, and self-sufficiency \nStrong critical thinking with effective problem-solving skills in solving new, unique, and deep technical challenges \nAbility to prioritize and work on more than one project concurrently \nAbility to foresee challenges and lead the identification and implementation of alternative solutions \nExperience with medical device development is helpful but not required \nTravel Requirements\n As needed\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nStanding - Occasionally \nWalking - Occasionally \nSitting - Constantly \nTalking - Occasionally \nHearing - Occasionally \nRepetitive Motions - Frequently \n ZOLL Medical does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
