If you're driven by hard problems, energized by rapid innovation, and ready to make an impact on defense technology, you belong here.\nThe EWIS Engineer V/VI is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for leading the design, development, and production support of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) for Zone 5 UAS and air-launched weapon platforms. This position owns the harness architecture from schematic through installation - ensuring wiring systems are safe, reliable, manufacturable, and compliant with aerospace and military standards. Engineers in this role will work closely with production to resolve build issues quickly and will mentor other engineers in EWIS best practices. \nResponsibilities: \nEWIS Architecture: Define and own wiring interconnect architecture, including wire and connector selection, routing, separation, segregation, shielding, and bonding/grounding schemes. \nHarness Design: Create and maintainwire lists, pin-outs, schematics, harness drawings, and formboard layouts using electrical CAD tools. \n3D Integration: Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering to route harnesses in 3D models, define clamping and support, and ensure installation clearance and maintainability. \nStandards Compliance: Ensure designs meet SAE AS50881 and applicable military specifications for wire, cable, connectors, and protective materials. \n Production Support: Serve as the primary engineering interface to harness manufacturing; resolve build issues, disposition nonconformances, and support Material Review Board (MRB) activities. \nDesign for Manufacturability: Drive harness designs that reduce build time, rework, and cost while maintainingreliability. \n Verification & Test: Define harness acceptance test requirements (continuity, hi-pot, insulation resistance) and support integration and qualification testing. \nEMI/EMC Coordination: Partner with EMI/EMC engineering to implement shielding, filtering, and grounding approaches that meet MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 requirements. \nConfiguration Control: MaintainEWIS documentation and drawing packages under configuration control and drive engineering change orders through implementation. \nMentorship: Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in EWIS design and harness fabrication practices. \nQualifications: \nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineeringor a related field. \nExperience: 10+ years of experience in aircraft, missile, or aerospace wiring and harness design, with significant production support experience. \n Skills: \nExpert knowledge of SAE AS50881 and military wire, cable, and connector specifications (e.g., M22759, M27500, MIL-DTL-38999). \nProficiencywith electrical and harness CAD tools (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks Electrical, Siemens Capital, or Zuken E3.series). \nStrong understanding of power distribution, signal integrity, shielding, and bonding/grounding. \nProven ability to close nonconformance issues and drive corrective action in a production environment. \nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities. \nU.S. Person status requireddue to export control regulations. \nPreferred Qualifications: \nExperience with weapon and store interfaces (e.g., MIL-STD-1760) and avionics data buses (MIL-STD-1553, CAN, Ethernet). \nFamiliarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards. \nFamiliarity with DO-160 and MIL-STD-704. \nExperience transitioning designs from prototype to rate production. \nActive U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain. \nLevel V: $175,000 - $215,000\nLevel VI: $201,000 - $251,000\nPay range for this role\n$175,000—$251,000 USD\nWhat's in it for you:\nBenefits: \nCompetitive total compensation package \nComprehensive benefit package options include medical, dental, vision, life, and more.\n401k with company-match \n3 weeks of paid time off each year\n40 hours of sick time\n12 annual company holidays\nWhy Join Zone 5 Technologies?\nInnovative Environment: Work on cutting-edge technology that is shaping the future of defense and aerospace.\nCollaborative Culture: Join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.\nCareer Growth: Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.\nIf you are passionate about unmanned aircraft technology and want to be a part of a dynamic and growing company, we would love to hear from you.
