You’ll make things happen fast.\nWhat You'll do:\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable services and APIs (REST and GraphQL) behind our intent and search features.\nEvolve our existing intent and search features and build new ones that shape where the product goes next.\nBuild and improve the Angular and React interfaces customers use to search, filter, and act on intent data.\nBuild production-ready systems with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.\nOwn features and projects end-to-end across the stack, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements.\nWork with distributed systems and event-driven architectures using Kafka and Pub/Sub, including messaging and asynchronous data flows.\nDesign and implement APIs and services that integrate with other internal and external systems.\nWork with large and complex data flows in MongoDB and BigQuery, and understand how data moves through backend systems.\nDeploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve services running in production on GKE and Cloud Run.\nParticipate in system design and architecture discussions and help make sound technical decisions.\nCollaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver complete solutions.\nInvestigate complex production issues and identify root causes rather than only addressing symptoms.\nImprove existing systems and proactively identify opportunities to increase reliability, performance, and engineering efficiency.\nUse AI coding tools as part of your everyday workflow to write, review, test, and debug code faster.\nProvide technical guidance to other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.\nWhat you bring:\n6+ years of professional experience in software engineering and building production systems, with most of that on the backend.\nStrong experience with Node.js and TypeScript, or a similar backend technology.\nExperience building modern web UIs with Angular and/or React.\nDeep understanding of backend development principles, APIs, services, databases, and distributed systems.\nHands-on experience building and operating production applications, including debugging and troubleshooting real-world issues.\nExperience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies, particularly Kafka.\nExperience designing and working with both REST and GraphQL APIs.\nExperience with cloud infrastructure and services; GCP experience is preferred.\nStrong understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, observability, and system design.\nDemonstrated ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them from design through production.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate complex technical issues independently.\nStrong communication skills and ability to make and explain technical decisions.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with NestJS.\nStrong experience with GCP and cloud-native services such as Pub/Sub, BigQuery, GKE, and Cloud Run.\nExperience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.\nExperience with search systems: indexing, ranking, relevance tuning, or query performance.\nExperience with ML-driven or AI-powered features, such as signal scoring, embeddings, or semantic search.\nExperience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.\nExperience with CI/CD and production deployment pipelines.\nExperience with monitoring and observability tools.\nExperience with high-scale or distributed systems.\nDeep experience with Angular or React, plus an eye for UX and frontend performance.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nOwns features from initial design through production, across backend and UI.\nUnderstands how services actually run, communicate, scale, fail, and recover in production.\nCan independently investigate and resolve complex backend and production issues.\nBuilds systems and interfaces that are reliable, maintainable, observable, and scalable.\nMakes thoughtful technical and architectural decisions.\nProactively identifies problems and improvements rather than waiting for requirements.\nActs as a technical owner and contributes to the growth and effectiveness of the engineering team.\nActual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, qualifications, skills, experience and/or training.
