The Manager of Vehicle Technicians will work closely with the Fleet Operations Leadership team to drive new operational initiatives, track and measure efficiencies, establish KPIs, and ensure we stay hyperfocused on our roadmap progression for our Zoox L3 and VH6 vehicle fleets. An ideal candidate would be self-motivated and technically inclined, embrace a positive attitude, remain calm in a rapid-paced environment, identify as a change-maker, and have a solid operational background. This role will require you to stay flexible, tackle ambiguity head-on, embrace change, and focus on delivering a best-in-class commercial product, including the associated maintenance and repair services.\nIn this role, you will:\nEffectively manage the Vehicle Technician team and cross-functional relationships to execute business initiatives, improve processes, and deploy systems and infrastructure as planned.\nMentor and hold direct reports accountable, and support succession planning through coaching, leadership development, training, and performance management.\nStrategically forecast team growth that aligns with our company roadmap. All workshop personnel will be heavily engaged in the recruiting and hiring process. Additionally, streamline the employee onboarding and training process.\nDefine, track, and drive the continuous improvement process, which includes systems, applications, tools, methods, and forward-looking changes that will result in an increase in fleet uptime.\nDefine and execute against objectives and KPIs, positively reinforce and engage your team, and share in each other's success.\nOptimize the current workstreams to reduce downtime in vehicle maintenance and repairs and provide more uptime for engineering-level testing.\nForecast and oversee the team budget for crew and vehicle supplies.\nEnforce all environmental, health, and safety policies. Ensure the workshop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous & hazardous materials. Raise the bar on safety. \nQualifications\n8+ years of transportation industry experience, preferably in operations, including fleet/maintenance management, and 5+ years managing teams of 10 or more across multiple projects.\nDemonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and operational skill sets\nPossesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities\nDemonstrates awareness of all environmental, health, and safety protocols\nCommunicates clearly and effectively;
