Joining the Mobile Platform team, you’ll work on the technical foundations that power the app - from architecture and shared libraries to core experiences, build systems, and analytics infrastructure.\nYou’ll join our Mobile Platform team, which owns the infrastructure, tooling and engineering standards that sit beneath our customer-facing mobile experiences. This includes areas such as app architecture, shared modules, our design system, observability, developer tooling and CI/CD.\nThe team is accountable for keeping these foundations reliable, scalable and easy for our product squads to build on. You’ll help shape the direction of mobile engineering at Zopa, improve the developer experience, and reduce the underlying technical complexity that product engineers need to manage.\nThe Mobile Platform team does not own individual customer journeys or build product features on behalf of squads. Product teams remain responsible for their customer experiences and the services they own, including responding to incidents within those product-owned areas. Instead, your focus will be on creating and maintaining the shared capabilities, tooling and standards that enable those teams to deliver safely and effectively.\nWhile the app today is built with React Native, we are expanding our native capabilities in Swift and Kotlin and are transforming the Android experience with a move toward a more fully native approach. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of that journey!\nA day in the life:\nReporting to an Engineering Manager within one of our teams. Your final team placement will be agreed during the final stages of the interview process.\nCollaborate closely with other native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform.\nPlay a key role in migrating the app from React Native to native Android, building in Kotlin with strong architectural foundations and industry best practices.\nPartner with the wider mobile engineering community, including React Native developers, to define best practices for native development and support engineers cross-training into native Android.\nImprove the performance, robustness, and overall quality of the app by identifying bottlenecks, addressing technical debt, and resolving defects to optimise the user experience.\nWork cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to design and deliver features that fully leverage native Android capabilities.\nAbout you:\nExperienced in building and shipping production Android applications in Kotlin, including publishing apps to the Google Play Store.\nStrong understanding of Android frameworks, platform APIs, and native app development best practices.\nBackground working on modern, high-engagement mobile applications with a focus on performance, reliability, and delivering exceptional user experiences.\nPassionate about quality, with a track record of raising engineering standards through thoughtful design, testing, and maintainable code.\nMotivated by opportunities to create broad impact through better processes, tooling, and automation that raise the bar for mobile
