They're at job sites, in trucks, in attics, making decisions with a phone in one hand and a clipboard in the other. We're looking for a designer who can own that platform entirely: building experiences that work in real-world conditions, not ideal ones. Glare, gloves, interrupted connectivity, and two-second attention spans are the actual design brief.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\nOwn the end-to-end design of Zuper's mobile and tablet experiences across iOS and Android\nDesign for the field - job sites, vehicles, client walkthroughs - where context shifts fast and the UI has to keep up\nHandle connectivity edge cases like a first-class design problem: offline states, sync flows, partial data, and graceful degradation\nUse native platform capabilities purposefully - camera for estimates and documentation, GPS for job context, push for timely handoffs\nTalk to our customers' teams regularly - understand their day in the field before you design for it\nBuild and extend the mobile component library within the Prelude design system\nPrototype on real devices and test in real conditions - not just in Figma\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nMobile-native thinking\nStrong knowledge of iOS and Android design conventions.\nAbility to decide when to follow platform patterns and when to deviate from them.\nAbility to justify design decisions.\n\nContext-aware design\nDesign for one-handed phone usage.\nConsider gloves, bright sunlight, and split attention.\nAdapt the design to real-world working environments.\n\nConnectivity & state design\nFollow an offline-first design approach.\nDesign loading, syncing, stale-data, and failure states.\nEnsure all application states are carefully considered, not just the ideal user journey.\nSpeed & efficiency\nCreate fast and efficient user flows.\nReduce the number of steps required to complete tasks.\nSimplify interactions to improve customer productivity.\nTablet layouts\nDesign effective interfaces for tablet-sized screens.\nUse split views, side panels, and denser information layouts.\nMake deliberate use of tablet screen space instead of simply scaling up mobile layouts.\nCustomer obsession\nRegularly interact with customers through calls.\nTreat customers as active design partners.\nUse customer conversations as research opportunities.\nUnderstand customer needs and workflows before designing solutions.\nOwnership\nIndependently identify mobile platform requirements.\nIdentify and resolve broken or inefficient user experiences.\nTake ownership of the mobile experience without waiting for detailed specifications.\nExperience\n4-6 years of product design experience.\nStrong, demonstrable mobile design portfolio.\nB2B or enterprise mobile product design experience is a strong advantage.\nNICE TO HAVE\nField service or construction software\nReact Native familiarity\nMobile design system ownership\nAccessibility on mobile\nTrades industry experience\nPrototyping in code\nABOUT ZUPER\nZuper builds field service management software for the trades - roofing, HVAC, plumbing, and beyond.
