All hiring decisions are reviewed and made by qualified hiring professionals.\nZurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.\nWhat you will do:\nDevelop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks on Microsoft Azure for batch and incremental data processing.\nBuild data transformations using Python and SQL, following established engineering standards and patterns.\nSupport the ingestion of data from enterprise applications, files, APIs and event-driven sources.\nHelp design and maintain curated datasets across Lakehouse layers, including raw, refined and curated data.\nPerform data-quality checks, anomaly detection and reconciliations to improve data accuracy and reliability.\nMonitor production jobs, troubleshoot failures and resolve data issues.\nPartner with analytics, data science and AI teams to create trusted data foundations for reporting, advanced analytics and AI-enabled use cases.\nFollow Zurich’s data governance, privacy and security requirements, including standards for sensitive and regulated data.\nContribute to technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge sharing across the Data Management team.\nContinue developing your technical capabilities by applying new platform features and engineering practices.\nJob Qualifications - What you bring to the table\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline\nOR\nEquivalent practical experience\nAND\nHands-on experience using Python for data processing and automation.\nWorking knowledge of SQL for querying and transforming data.\nExposure to Databricks, including jobs, notebooks and Delta Lake concepts, or a similar cloud data platform.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure services such as storage, compute, identity and networking.\nUnderstanding of core data-engineering concepts, including ETL/ELT, data modelling, schema evolution and performance optimization.\nUnderstanding of data-quality, validation and monitoring practices.\nAwareness of modern analytics and AI/ML concepts and the role data engineering plays in enabling them.\nAbility to write clear, maintainable code and work within version-control and engineering standards.\nStrong problem-solving skills, curiosity and a willingness to learn in a complex enterprise environment.\nPreferred\nExperience with Delta Lake or Lakehouse architectures.\nExposure to CI/CD practices for data pipelines.\nFamiliarity with data governance, privacy or regulated-data environments such as financial services or insurance.\nExperience supporting data solutions in an enterprise production environment.\nInterest in AI-enabled analytics and automation.\nCompensation\nAt Zurich Canada, we are committed to pay equity. We determine compensation based on objective criteria such as skills, experience and internal equity. The salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,000.
