As a Junior Python Developer, you’ll help to shape the future of our actuarial technology, working together with talented teams and driving innovation.\nYour role\nAs a Junior Python developer, your main responsibilities will involve:\nDesign, develop, and maintain robust Python ‘rating engines’ for multiple segments of business across Commercial insurance\nComply with best practices for Python coding\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions\nWrite clean, efficient, and testable code, with a focus on maintainability and scalability\nIdentify commonalities across calculation models and support effective re-use of modules\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues\nStay up-to-date with the latest Python frameworks, tools, and trends\nWithin the project development team suggest and share ideas, align with other developers, document methods of coding for specific topics to ensure transparency\nParticipate in ongoing unit testing and subsequent UAT (user acceptance testing) ensuring bugs are identified and correctly fixed within the project framework\nYour Skills and Experience\nAs a Junior Python Developer your skills and experience will ideally include:\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or other related fields\nHands-on experience with Python \nUnderstanding of software design principles, OOP, and patterns \nExperience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture \nExperience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) \nProficient with source control (Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines \nExcellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills \nWorking proficiency in English\nNice to have:\nExperience with frameworks such as FastAPI and asyncio\nExperience working with data frameworks, particularly Polars and Pandas\nBackground in designing and integrating RESTful APIs\nWe offer\nCompensation for roles at Zurich depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific role, skill set, level of experience, and subject to applicable law.
